I was blown away by the great information that has really helped me adjust. I am so happy to be back and ready to hit the streets running. To put it this way, it is well work the money. I do wish they would have put an index in the back so I can find the places easier? But, overall, I have been a very happy and informed reader. I have just bought 10 copies for bachelorette party favor.

Her destination for the next 3 months was San Francisco, and i shearched the net for a guide book that would feed her habit. I found several, but as sucker for pretty pictures i picked "Savvy in the City". I read it first and back to front before handing to my wife and was amazed at the witty and candid descriptions for the items listed. My wife was puzzled at first wondering why she would need a guide book, but now can not leave her hotel room with out it. Since it was such a big hit i purchased the New York guide, a city i know very well, and found that i use this book as much as my wife. Please do more cities, can not wait.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: A fun read, like the female edge but disorganized Review: I bought this book right before a recent trip to San Francisco. I have to say that I liked the idea of this book more than the actual book itself - it was poorly organized, hard to find pertinent information, and the tone was really grating after a while. And spend some money and put in an index, for god's sake! Still, out of all the traveller's guides for San Fran, this one had tips and ratings that made it a good investment for someone who wants a chatty female opinion on where to sleep, shop, and eat.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Great Info! Review: I moved to San Francisco in 2002. I found this book browsing at the Borders at Union Square on the first weekend I was there, and it was the best introduction I could have had to the city. This book helped to make my year in the San Francisco very memorable and magical. I didn't have many girlfriends in the city when I moved there, and this book filled in the information void very nicely. I found good hair stylists, spa services, activities, restaurants and shops which would have taken a lot longer to find on my own. San Francisco became very comfortable very quickly. The format of listing by neighborhood (with no index) made entries in this book a little hard to keep track of, but I always found what I needed with a little extra time. And, if I knew I would be in a certain neighborhood one day, I would look up shops or restaurants in that area so I would have an idea which ones would be worth trying. The maps in the front of the book were very helpful, too.

This book will definitely appeal to some lovely dumbies, but to others, well, there's always the Eyewitness Guides.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Old News and Typos Review: This guide is the absolute worst! I don't think the editors even proofread this thing before it went out ("Prada's other line: Mui Mui"). Give me a break! As an SF native, I consider myself a city insider and I can tell you that this guide is basically a ripoff of Splendora, the beauty and shopping webiste where I found my absolute fave facialist and masseuse three years ago. Coincidentally Jane recommends the same facialist and masseuse but my people have never heard of the authors or the book. The only thing savvy about this guide is (maybe) its cover but even that's a stretch.

The city will become managealbe - and it has everything I was looking for to make my boring business trip become interesting. Thanks for the great information, Jane! P.S. I am going to London over the summer and was wondering if there is a Savvy book for London? Enjoy!
