Summary: In Guide
Review: Prague is a magical city and it deserves an unusual guide. Its narrow streets with cobble stones ask to be discovered and it is actually easy with the Avantguide. It contains precious insider's information on places away from the tourist center where you hardly meet other tourists.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Excellent guide-book
Review: The book is highly informative: I found the characterizations of the bars, restaurants, etc. spot-on (as of March 2003), and did both of the self-guided walks without trouble. The main weakness of the book is the relatively inadequate fold-out map. But this is easily remedied - virtually every kiosk and hotel in Prague sells a larger street map with the primary sights as well as all the mass transit routes clearly marked for approximately $.... So buy this book for pre-trip preparation and reference while in-country, and spend a buck on the better map once you're there. The combo is hard to beat.

Summary: essential guidebook!
Review: this summer when my friend and i visted prague, i bought this guidebook on a whim. it turned out to be the best guidebook of all the books we bought for our trip. all the resteraunts reccomended were FABULOUS. we did one of the walking tours in the book, which was amazing - it could be self-paced, you didnt have to pay for a guide or join one of the gigantic group tours and you got all the information.
in all, one of my favorite features of the book was the street guide in the back. there is a listing of all the streets in prague with coordinates corresponding with a map. that way, if you get lost (and believe me, its easy, especially in old town!!) you can find out where you are and where you need to go very easily.
i love this book, and am buying it for my brother who is visiting prague in january!
