Summary: A great place to start
Review: As you see from most of the reviews of this book it is an excellent source of information. As the author notes, the level of enjoyment of your trip is directly related to the amount of research you do before your trip.

In addition to being a great source of information before we left, it was a great read on the drive to Orlando. As parents, so much time is spent on the planning that the joyful anticipation of the trip is often left to the kids. The more we read and closer we got, the more excited we got.

One personal caveat that is inferred in the book, but not stated expressly is that the Disney experience can be lost on young kids. Our six-year-old had an absolute blast, our 3 1/2-year-old was a bit tentative about the characters and some of the shows, but our two-year old was scared by the characters (I don't think he understood that they would be life-sized) and the shows created sensory overload. Several parents of young children we talked to said they would not repeat the experience with a child younger than four. We heartily second that.

Summary: A Must Read before going to Disney
Review: From the moment I opened the book, it paid for itself the author gives some fantastic advise on how to save time and money and make most of your visit to Disney and all of the other theme parks there are to see.

Summary: The best of the bunch
Review: I bought 5 different books for my family's trip to Orlando and found this one the most helpful. I only wish we'd bought it earlier...we picked it up a week before leaving and read it on the way down. But I wish we had it in time to take advantage of the author's information on the Disney hotels which was very through and gave you real direction about which resort is best for different kinds of people.

The author's information about the theme parks was very helpful and saved us both time and money at several points. Her restaurant tips were also good. She steered us to what turned out to be our favorite place to eat fron the whole trip - The Prime Time Restaurant, which incidentially, was totally panned by the Unoffical Guide. But we enjoyed it so much we ended up eating there twice.

Summary: excellent
Review: I bought the 1999 version and am about to order the newest edition. I had not been to Disney World in 12 years so I had no idea on what to do and where do go. The book was right on about every detail. I especially like the ride advice for little ones and the hotel recommendations. If you are planning a trip, buy this book first!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: The best series available for parents
Review: I buy Wiley's guide every year and always find her to be right on the money when it comes to rating the rides, recommending hotels, and giving tips on extras like how and where to meet the characters. What separates this book from the other Disney guides is that it's realistic....the unoffical guide lays out a itinerary that would kill anyone with kids and the official guide is all sugary and light, never telling you how to handle the crowds and the heat and all the other things that are just a factor when you're at Disney World. Wiley hits the middle ground - she's positive and obviously knows (and loves) her stuff but she'll also give you the facts.

Summary: this book was a big dissapointment
Review: I found this book to be very out of date. I can't count how many times I read "coming in 2000" and then no info on the subject. I didn't expect this from a book written for 2001. I have the 2000 official guide and it is much more up to date. The only thing I liked about the book is the coverage of non disney parks. This book was a huge waste of money.

Summary: What a great book!
Review: I have a three year old daughter, and this book was a tremendous help in planning out trip to Disney World. It told us when and where to find the characters (a BIG item for planning the days), what rides to ride first, and most importantly, the information about FastPass. I highly recommend the book to anyone taking kids to DisneyWorld.

Summary: Even more excited about our upcoming trip now
Review: I have wanted to go to Walt Disney World for years and finally have the chance. I read the book cover to cover in one day.

Before I read the book I did not know much about the particulars of a Disney trip, but now I am much more confident. The book gives lots of tips about what to do before you go, and what to do once you are there. It focuses on many aspects of the trip and gives good clear advice. My book is covered in highlighter and post-it notes as a result of this direct information.

I wish I would have purchased this book 7 or 8 months in advance of our trip instead of 6 weeks, as it gives advice on hotel reservations and the necessity of making on-site reservations very early, to be most economical. The only drawback I found was that the maps are way too vague. I wish clear, detailed maps and entertainment schedules, or examples, were included in the book. And for the kids, a few photos would be nice.

After reading the book, I regret not allowing more time for this ultimate family vacation. There is much more to Walt Disney World than I had imagined. Two thumbs up.

Summary: Most helpful book I've seen
Review: I just got back from Orlando with my two kids. I followed the advice in this book religiously and felt it helped a lot with time, stress, spending money, etc. My youngest child is afraid of lots of rides so Wiley's scare factor ratings were a big help in deciding what he should go on. I also like the touring plans. She hits a happy medium - gives you info without scaring you to death like so many guides do.

Summary: Fantastic--a must have if you have young children
Review: I love this book! I had an earlier version and I couldn't wait for the new edition which includes the Animal Kingdom. The book helps me decide which rides are appropriate for children of each age group. We saved a lot of time on our last trip to WDW by not spending time in lines for rides which our children would not appreciate or rides which might scare our children. A "must have".
