Summary: Inspiring, captivating, and a precious find.
Review: After 40 some years of living Alaska, I am well aware of the difficulty and seeming impossibility of capturing the great land on film and with words. The true essense and spitituality of this vast offering often eludes our cameras and pens. John has nailed it. His enduring patience and impecable eye for the finest of nature glows from image to image, mushroom ice stands, an otter enjoying a meal, volcanic clouds balloning over stands of towering spruce, an eaglets first moment broken from the shell, in your face bears, all these images and much more inspire me to look harder, go further, and wait longer for more of Alaska than I have ever experienced. The photos are sparkled by John's unique style of writing. After recieving the book as a gift I spent long nights, reading and re-reading his tales of adventure with delight. My work takes me far from home and John's book gives me opportunity to share the true flavors of Alaska with those I meet on the trail. Thank you John for sharing your God given talents, I so look forward to the next book.

Review: Every now and then mankind is graced with a special, gifted and unique human being. John being one of them. John has sacrificed his body to bring the beauty and splendor of Alaska's wildlife to those of us who only dream of seeing such beauty. He has been blessed and honored to be able to see, feel and experience the beauty that our Creator has graced Mother Earth with. Within each story and photo the reader can see the 'Light' within John. Many Blessings to you John.

Summary: A symphony of unusual wildlife experiences.
Review: I first met John at a camera store in Anchorage Alaska. He showed me a pre-release pamphlet of his upcoming book and I was hooked! We later became friends and I was lucky enough to make a couple of photo trips with him.

I think the thing that impresses me most about John's book is the sheer amount of toil involved. Anyone who knows the least bit about photography, knows that these are pictures taken over a lifetime of work. The sheer amount of sitting and waiting would have exhausted lesser men and women.

I can recommend this book to anyone. Those content to explore the world through the pages of John's book will find a visual feast of words and pictures. Those of us who consider ourselves photographers, will find much to inspire us to greater achievement of our art.

Summary: The Grace, Power and Beauty of Alaska from the heart.
Review: I had the pleasure of meeting John at the '98 Alaska State Fair, being introduced through a mutuial friend, and took an interest in his work. Having lived in Alaska most of 35 years and photographed it for many of those I am impressed by John's ability to anticipate and capture the awe inspiring essence of Alaska.

Summary: The Wonder that is Alaska
Review: I met John at a book signing where I purchased this incredible book. As an outdoor and nature photographer and a 20 year Alaska resident, I have more than a passing interest in the work presented as on or about Alaska. The photographs contained in this initial effort capture a part of Alaska many dream about, but few will ever have the opportunity to see. There is the wonder and intrigue in each photograph that draw thousands to the Last Frontier each year. This is truely a book worthy of the title "Alaska". I look forward to future work from this very talented photographer.

Summary: Amazing collection of Alaska Wildlife Photos
Review: I met John Pezzenti at Brooks Camp in Alaska this past summer. About 20 of us were standing on a platform with 7 coastal brown bears catching salmon at the waterfall in front of us. John asked a woman with a 35-80mm lens if she would like to take a few shots of the bears through his 600mm lens. Her eyes lit up and her husband later said this was the highlight of their trip to Alaska.

Later that evening, John shared some of the proof pages for the book with us while we sat around the fireplace in the Brooks Lodge. He has spent 27 years photographing Alaska and the pictures show it. While the photos have the energy of being taken in the wild, they also have the quality of studio portraits. After having spent the day watching bears in the wild, looking at his photos was like being back outside with them.

For anyone interested in Alaska or wildlife, I highly recommend this book.

Summary: Magnificent work of art.
Review: I received a copy of John Pezzenti's book,A Photographic Journey Through The Last Wilderness,as a gift through my work. John Pezzenti's photographes portray such beauty and his words flow with spirituality. John Pezzenti's gift for writing matches his talent for capturing nature at it's finest. From the incredible photo's of the birth of an eagle,to the heart felt story of the Birthday Cake Bear. As I look through this magnificent book I feel his photo's and words drawing me in. It gives me the sense that I too am able to share what John Pezzenti must have felt being there. When I was young I went on a cruise to Alaska. I knew that one day I would move to this great land. John Pezzenti's book reinforce's why I kept this dream so close to my heart for all these years. I will always cherish this gift I received and feel blessed that John Pezzenti chose to share his God given talent with the rest of us. One could keep writing but there are no words that can truely describe this work of art. I highly recommend this book to anyone that has ever dreamt about Alaska. John Pezzenti truely opens his heart to the reader with his photographes and lets us share in the beauty he has captured over the past 25 years. I look forward to being able to share his work with my family and friends,as I also look forward to his next publishing.

Summary: Beyond the ordinary
Review: I've just granted my eyes and heart a second opportunity to experience Alaska through the verse and images of John Pezzenti Jr. The verse conveys both the spiritual and emotional connection the author obviously has with Alaska. The images transport this viewer to a place and time that feature nature displaying a magnificence worthy of savoring. Alaska, the book, inspires me to contemplate another adventure here in the northern Eden we call Alaska. A place where I am invited to quest for the spirit of the natural world that John Pezzenti knows so well. Alaska, the book and Alaska, the place transend the ordinary with grandure and excitement. I recommend both to anyone who lusts for beyond the ordinary. John Toppenberg
