Review: I bought this book about two years ago and have used it faithfuly ever since. The author I must say has written some questionable materiel since, his HooDoo Mysteries is terrible but this book rings of sound practice. I love the first section where many saints are featured along with their pictures, candle colors and other correspondences. The rest of the book is nice as well. The author gives a chapter on the many many different types of mystical candles available and offers uses for each. There is more information on reading and interpreting how the candles burn, and also the helpful and harmful uses for various colors. Even though this is unfortuenantly published by Llewyllyn, a publishing house known to produce crap this is a book worth having. If you are someone who works with the saints and uses the 7 day novena candles then this book is certainly for you. If you are looking for even more information then buy CHARMS SPELLS AND FORMULAS along with this book, the two together bought new will cost under $20.00.

Summary: Good but lacking
Review: I enjoyed this book because of its content on the saints. Its an excelent begining point for those who wish to work the saints as encantados. The saints are tangible and you can form relationships with them just as you would a friend. I reccomend you buy this book as a refference point for working with some of the saints and their corresponding candles. I would also reccomend you buy Charms Spells and Formulas by this same author as it will give you some good beginning points in setting up an altar. I would however STAY AWAY from his third book Hoodoo Mysteries, this book is filled with nothing but fluff and tripe.
That being said, enjoy this book and begin a journey with the saints.

Summary: Nothing that I thought it was! Kinda Disappointing
Review: I got this book hoping it was better then I thought it was going to be, but it was JUST ok, some of the stuff especially the sacrificial stuff is just silly and should be taken lighty, but some of the other spells("prayers") are pretty cool. To be completely honest there are alot of better books out there, I would go to those first. I personally reccomend Modern Magick From Donald Michael Kraig, it's more comfortable and more descriptive, and it'a great starter book:)

Review: I have read a lot of books but this book seems to be nothing more than a put together thing that tells nothng about how to really contact the Saints or use their help. I was hoping for a book that would give me somethng to work with but this book did not.

I WISH THERE WAS A WAY TO GET MY MONEY BACK BUT I DESTROYED MY COPY SO IT WOULD NOT FALL INTO ANYONE ELSE'S HANDS. I DO NOT KNOW WHO WROTE THE REVIEW SAYING HE/SHE WAS AN OMO OBATALA BUT HE/SHE IS WRONG! WHY WOULD A PERSON WHO IS REALLY AN OMO OBATALA NEED TO HAVE A LITTLE BOOK LIKE THIS TO TELL HIM/HER WHAT TO DO? SAVE YOUR MONEY. DON'T WASTE IT ON THIS USELESS MATERIAL.

Review: If this is your first book on candles,the saints,and the meanings of burning candles this is good. The advanced practioner may find this book a little over the top in some instances. Some "secrets" he lets out are better left unsaid.

Review: If you are looking for a how-to guide for calling upon the saints as your personal allies, this book just might start you in the right direction. The author--whose background includes Santeria, Wicca, spiritualism, voodoo and shamanism--introduces you to 74 different saints, and explains how you can reach them through ritual. The book opens with a brief overview of saints and deities, including capsule identification of each saint--such as name, feast day, weekday, emblem, color of candle, areas of protection and association. In addition, an image of the saint is provided. Following this are general discussions of the power of rituals and magic, and how these can assist you. However, the majority of the book is given over to providing you with candle rituals and incantations for 57 different situations,such as improving your marriage, attracting fortune, improving your business, calming anger, conquering infidelity, obtaining spiritual strength, etc. Each of the rituals includes appropriate references to the Psalms of the Bible, and other key steps for success. Also included are a bibliography for further reading, and an index.
