Summary: Best buy
Review: For its price, this definitely delivered, and some. With a comprehensible format and legend, it's definitely helpful when you're, well, not lost, just "taking the scenic route."

Summary: Essential Equipment for Motorcyclists
Review: I bought the Atlas and Gazetter for WV and MD. These books are essential equipment for getting out and enjoying the back roads. The topo info tells you if it will be flat and sunny or hilly and shady. I am really impressed with the detail of the maps. If they could make it in a water proof edition it would be perfect.

Summary: Mountains, rivers, creeks and streams
Review: I bought this West Virginia Map and Gazetteer in order to help my husband and I find our way through WV. We're most interested in the topography - elevations, rivers, creeks, etc. I would recommend using this book map in conjunction with a regular road map, because there isn't quite enough detail for smaller roads, but it's a great place to start.

Summary: West Virginia is more than you can imagine...
Review: It's Wednesday evening. You're trying to think of something new and different to do with you weekend. Your loved one(s) are bored and restless and want to do something different. It's all up to you... What to do...

If you've been there before, there is one solution - this book of great maps. In addition to the detailed accuracy of the maps, there is a great section that details locations of interest, places to go, things to do, phone numbers you can call to make arrangements and get info. This could be the book that saves your weekend!

Stored in your car, it could also be the book that get's you where you want to go without driving to a gas station to get directions. If you've tried that lately, you know that your chances of getting good directions to far-off places are slim to none.

I have purchased several of these books - one for each state that I frequent. Whenever I want to get away, I take them out and see what I can find. We have visited covered bridges, homes built by Frank Lloyd Wright, cliffs and caves, museums and all kinds of historic landmarks.

For the price of a nice meal, you will have a travel companion for many years to come. While you can get maps on the internet, most of us still don't have that at our disposal when we are on the road. This book will be your guide!

Summary: Outdoor Reference Atlas & Recreation Guide for West Virginia
Review: With its beautiful scenery and numerous outdoor activities, West Virginia is a vacationer's paradise. To help visitors and residents find their way around the Mountain State, DeLorme has announced the release of the West Virginia Atlas & Gazetteer, a comprehensive book that contains detailed maps and in-depth listings about places to go and things to do throughout the state. From the Panhandle Region to the New River Valley, this 64-page atlas includes full-color, shaded relief topographic maps of the entire state, including a complete index of over 8,800 placenames and map features. The Gazetteer section is an extensive source of information about interesting places to visit and things to do, such as: · State parks and national lands · Unique natural features · Historic sites, districts, and parks · Attractions, including wineries, museums, cruises and tours · Listings of 23 species of sport fish in West Virginia rivers, streams and lakes · Listings of 21 species of birds and game · Covered bridges · Paddling trips and boat access areas · Hiking trails · Public and private campgrounds · Scenic drives and bicycle routes · Ski areas The Atlas features extensive road coverage, including detailed highway and secondary state routes, as well as thousands of named local roads, active rail lines and trails. Hidden rivers, streams and creeks, complete with potential fishing spots indicated right on the maps, are also included.

In the front of the map section is a detailed highway map of the entire state on an easy-to-read two-page layout. This unique feature is a great reference tool for state-wide travelers. The maps are at a scale of 1:150,000, which translates to approximately one inch equaling 2.4 miles. These shaded relief maps depict the terrain in a realistic, three-dimensional view, with each page covering approximately 33 miles by 23½ . National, state and municipal land, and woodlands and agricultural use areas are highlighted with different color shades on the maps. A grid system along the margins of the maps indicates latitude and longitude measurements, enabling people to use it with Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers.
