Summary: EASY TO USE, THOROUGH, RELIABLE
Review: I bought this book AND "PETSWELCOME.COM". Well, after careful examination of the two, this book wins hands down for: organization, depth of information, ergonomic reading, number of entries (small towns too!). I sent back "PETSWELCOME.COM" for a refund without hesitation and will keep this book as my mainstay. Read my review about "PETSWELCOME.COM". I just got the feeling that based on all my examination of cities that this book had more care and research invested in it-----by far! When travelling, I don't need anymore inconveniences. This book is really what pet owners need. It has everything one would need in addition to the extras. It does not list emergency vets, but the other book was incomplete on this anyway with a few listings. Perhaps there is another resource that lists emergency animal hospitals.

Summary: Dated Information
Review: I took this and another pet travel book on a cross country trip to my folks house with my dog. I found this to be the least useful, as many of the entries were wrong (it was a HoJo, not a Ramada as listed) and the information was wrong (there was a $10/night charge and the book didn't mention it). All in all I wasn't too impressed.

Summary: Finally a complete pet travel guide
Review: I was about to take a trip across country with my dog & cat. I found this book at a local bookstore and it not only gave me some outstanding suggestions on how to prepare for my trip, but also some terrific check-lists and recreational information. The places that the authors recommend are first rate..... I stayed in eleven different ones on my trip and every one was great - from little B&Bs to one romantic resort hotel at the end of the trip, when my wife joined me. Oustanding job!!!! I can't wait for the regional guides to be re-released.......

Summary: Packed with Information
Review: I was surprised to read the last review about Pets on the Go. I have used the book for two years now and rely on it for all trips with our dogs. With 18,000 listings and almost 1,000 pages, the authors seem to have packed it with about as much information as possible. Logically, we understood that with this many listings, it would be impossible for the authors to review all the properties, but they make up for this by using a special logo to highlight the "recommended" properties. We use the web addresses to check out a lot of places in advance and have always been happy with the results. They even have a website, Petsonthego.com, where you can read lengthy reviews, get updates for the book, and learn about pet travel bargains. All in all - a great combo. I guess it was clear when looking over the book's description that we weren't getting lengthy reviews - but that is fine with us. We needed the something that we could take with us everywhere and we found it with Pets on the Go.

Summary: "Pets on the Go" is going back to the seller!!!
Review: If you are looking for a list of accomodations within the US that have at one time allowed pets, then this is your book. If, however, you are looking for something more...like a review of the accomodation, a rating, info on what ammenities FOR DOGS are available, then you are barking up the wrong tree. "Pets on the Go" has some general information on traveling with pets in the first chapter, information you could probably find on the internet. The rest of the book is simply a list, by State and City, of accomodations and their address, with a list of what human ammenities are available. That's it! I am returning my copy immediately, ... Check out one of the books in this series instead of "Pets on the Go".

Summary: Where's the Maps?
Review: The main reason I purchased the book was because I wanted the Hotel locations show on road maps. There isn't a single map in the entire book. For some reason I assumed this aide would be included in the printed version. In larger cites this would be a great help as I try to avoid going out of my way when traveling to find a place to stay. Its basically an outdated printed version of the Web site. Great to have along if your travel plans change and you have no internet connection but of limited use if you do.

Summary: Pets on the Go -- Book and Website are a Perfect Combination
Review: This book covers it all for us -- tells us about pet friendly places to stay, gives us the website addresses to check them out in advance and provides us with the details about pet policies and amenities. We use a combo of the book and the Pets on the Go website (www.petsonthego.com), as the book is easy to look through and carry with us, while the site has book updates and is packed with other information about pet travel trends, cool new hotels, and recreational activities. Good find!

We made a number of reservations ahead of time. The book makes it easy, as it lists web addresses for most of the properties so that we could easily check things out in advance and book directly to take advantage of the low Internet rates. We were able to find some very cool motels right on the water in Oregon, a cliffside hotel in the San Juan Islands, as well as a number of great inns in Carmel. While we tried to make all of our reservations ahead of time, there were days when we just had to wing it. Pets on the Go was very handy at finding last minute lodging as well. We will continue to use this great resource in planning our next trip through New England.

Summary: Great Guide with Free On-Line Updates
Review: We use the book often, and successfully because we take the authors' advice which is to call ahead and confirm that the property still takes pets. We also go to their website (www.petsonthego.com) to check for updates as well. This is the only pet travel guide, that we know of, to offer both a print version and online version for updates. It really makes it easy for us. I work in the hospitality industry and know that hotels change policies on a whim -- I think Pets on the Go does a great job of responding to those changes by offering both an easy to use print guide with updated online information!
