Summary: This guide book rocks
Review: Well, I no longer have to wonder when someone will finally write a decent guide book to the most interesting and least understood country in Central America. Berman and Woods' Moon Handbooks Nicaragua is surprisingly excellent. It's not the typical poorly researched guidebook that keeps you on the mainstream tourist trail, but includes a ton of information for the traveller who really wants to discover and understand a country by getting off the beaten track. I highly recommend this book to those who really want to experience Nicaragua, not just pass through. Thanks guys - well done.

Summary: Beautiful Country Finally gets a Great guide!
Review: When I visited Nicaragua, I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the land and the generosity of the people. It's not just the land of Lakes and Volcanoes, it's also the land of Poets and Muralists. I was also overwhelmed by the difficulty of traveling without a proper guide book.
Finally there's a book with great maps, vivid descriptions, and witty advise. Nicaragua should be at the top of the list for travelers and this Berman-Wood book is an essential guide.
What really separates this book apart from other's of its genre is all the guidance on how to travel responsibly. Nicaragua NEEDS money from tourism - but ignorant tourists may end up contributing to poverty and oppression!
Use this guide for all travel in the region - and use it to help decide what coffee to buy in your hometown!

Summary: Finally a good Nicaragua guidebook
Review: While planning a trip to Nicaragua 4 years ago, I realized that there was not a decent book to assist in preparing for such an awesome journey. Berman and Wood have filled that void. In their Moon Handbook - Nicaragua, the authors go beyond sharing all the useful information for getting around. This book also includes great photos and a very insightful review of activities including nightlife. The sections on history, politics, and culture provide a necessary context to a trip to this part of the world. Lastly, this book eliminates many of the myths of Nicaragua that intimidate travelers in an objective and informative manner. Congratulations Moon.
