Summary: NOT A BOOK, ONLY A 'BROCHURE'
Review: Don't waste your time with this. It is a 1 page brochure. Its more like the lonely man's guide to rio, since it seems to focus on strip clubs and prostitutes. Maybe thats your bag, but its not for me. Check out Rio for Partiers instead. It is a real travel guide that tells you where the hot spots in rio are each night of the week.

Summary: The Only Rio Pocket-Sized Travel Guide!
Review: I thought this guide did a great job of packing the most important info into a POCKET-SIZED travel guide for single men traveling to Rio. Just so you know, this is NOT a book, but rather a POCKET-SIZED pamphlet that is designed to fit into your pocket for your convenience. I was not looking for a huge book to have to lug around with me, but something that I can hit the road with and slip into my pocket while on the ground in Rio.

This guide has important addresses and info about the spots that single guys want to hit most like Termas, (believe it or not, the cab drivers don't always know how to get to them), nightclubs, bars, strip clubs, restaurants, currencly exchange locations, ATM machines, (those who have been to Rio know what a mission it is to get cash once you're there) and dozens of places to throw parties, meet women experience the culture and have a blast in Rio de Janeiro!

For the record, if you are looking for a lengnthy book on the history of Rio de Janeiro and wordy essays on people's experiences there, then this guide is NOT for you. But if you are looking for something conveniently small, but packed with useful info about 'how to do Rio de Janeiro' then this guide is perfect.

Summary: Informative but expensive!
Review: OK OK so maybe I could of joined a website and searched for a couple hours and got all this information for free. But what can't you get for free now days. This is a cool guide for people that don't have time to do their own research and/or hate having to carry a bunch of scrap paper with jotted notes to yourself. It does give you a list of hotels, night clubs, termas , etc. if they are the best is up to you. Cool guide, nifty idea but a little to expensive for what's offered. But then again what's $15 if your spending over $3k on a trip.

Summary: Not a paperback, just a ripoff...
Review: Paperback!!! What a laugh! This is the equivalent of 4 (count 'em, four) pages, folded map-style into a tiny pamphlet of 8 skinny pages (for example, the entire pamphlet probably would fit within the 1000 word limit Amazon places for these reviews).

And what juicy tidbits of information pass the cut for this exclusive guide? How about typical weather, ATM locations, a few restaurants and cell phone rentals plus an entire page listing Brazilian consulates in USA. Only two page segments are devoted to Termas and Garota-friendly Hotels and every bit of info contained here is easily obtained in a few Google searches.

Would I pay $2.95 to have this info collected in one place? Maybe. But $14.95 is ridiculous and it's unconscionable to pass this off as a "paperback" when it's nothing more than a tiny map with some easy boilerplate guide/info as filler.

Of course, if they called it a pamphlet instead of a paperback, they couldn't get $14.95 for it, could they. You should be ashamed Amazon.

Summary: Save your money...
Review: This pamphlet contains no information that can't be obtained for free via a Google search, and is overpriced at any price. I found "Bwana Dik's Guide to Rio" on the web, and it contains 50 times the info contained in the "Single Man's Pocket Guide to Rio de Janeiro." And this free web guide even includes it's own pocket guide.

Summary: Finally A Travel Guide For Guys
Review: This travel guide is perfect for single guys going to Rio de Janeiro for the first time. I went in October with my brother and a good friend. None of us had been before so after checking out the 4womenoftheworld.com website, we thought we'd give it a try, especially since it's pocket-sized. With this we were able to move around Rio on a dime and hit all the hot-spots where the ladies are. We met tons of girls, threw boat parties, and my brother even met a cutie that he plans to go see again this summer!

I highly recommend this guide to any guys heading to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the first time!

Summary: This is a pocket guide
Review: We apologize if anyone thinks this is a paperback, because Amazon does not have a category for pocket travele guides. Yes, all of this information is pretty much publicly available, but it would take quite a while to compile the information in the guide, so if your time is valuable, the guide is well worth the money. There is also the convenience of having all the information in one place
