Review: I picked up this book expecting a life and death adventure story akin to "The Perfect Storm" or "Survive the Savage Sea". That's not what I got, but I was not disappointed. This book took me on a much appreciated trip into the mind and soul of a person sailing through the crazy waters of life. His account of his journey is filled with thoughtful reflection and honesty - important tools for smooth sailing. I wish there were more books like this one, and I hope Peter Nichols will continue to write.

At the time, like Peter Nichols, I was contemplating a failed relationship and a downturn in my personal fortunes---seeking a sea change in my own life. Nichols' slim volume spoke to me as few books have, and I have returned to this poignant and wistfully humorous gem many times for inspiration and reassurance. Nichols' writing is simple, yet elegant, a sort of prose poetry rarely encountered nowadays. The brevity of the book makes it timeless. "I am sailing to meet my true self and find an improved version" Nichols writes, and that is the heart of any voyage. It is the raison d'etre and cause celebre of SEA CHANGE.

One of a handful of books that have moved me this deeply in my 40 years.

Review: I wandered into a book store to find Peter Nichols there for a book signing, he spoke of his journey, his life before and after setting sail, he read from his book and I was glad I had the chance to meet him. I found the book riveting at times and a comfortable cruise at other times. I recomend it not only to someone who has an interest in the sea (I never did before this book) but to anyone whoever loved or hopes to love for I found it as much of a love story as a journal of the wooden ship of days goneby, now crossing the ocean. Get and read this book

This was an incredibly rewarding book to edit because Peter is such an amazing writer and we really shared the same vision for the book. It's such an intense experience to work on a book like this, yet I only get feedback from my friends and family (and you know what they think). I've always enjoyed and learned from talking to readers at book signings, so if you have comments or questions I'd like to chat with you
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Exciting, Honest Story Review: If your expecting to learn seamanship or read some hair raising disaster story, this is not the book. The author vividly connects two of his recent failings, the sinking of his boat and the failure of his marriage. In both cases he preferred the romance and chose not to look for the real problems. Having lived in the Caribbean, I really felt that Peter Nichols captured the essence of the sail bum. However, I can't help wondering if anyone can get a Captain's license.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Moving, Accomplished Review: Nice book about crossing the Atlantic mixxed with reflections on the writer's failed marriage. Nothing new or real exciting about the book. I thought his reflections on his marriage over indulgent and sometimes boring. I kept wanting to tell him to get a girlfriend so that he could forget his depressing wife. The sailing part is fun but there are much better naratives.
