Review: I first picked up this cookbook because of the beautiful cover and the title - Discover Dinnertime. I wondered what that meant. Inside I found out. The authors have included current research that proves mealtime conversations that can improve your child's reading level and create new teaching opportunities. I was hooked, but what about the recipes? I started off with a quick snack for the kids to munch on while I was cooking; apples and caramel dip. This dip was so easy and my kids gobbled up the apple. In the meantime I am cooking the Mumba Jumba Pork - it was fast(less than 30 minutes), easy and delicious. My kids (2 & 4) ate every bite. We also had lots of fun saying Mumba Jumba. (Tip from the authors -have fun at dinner.) This is a one-dish meal so all I had to add was a green salad. Then on to desert. My husband is a big peanut butter fan - so what could be better than Peanut Butter Pie. Since the first night, I have been testing out the recipes and cooking with my kids. I haven't been this excited about cooking for along time. This Christmas everyone, even my bachlor brother-in-law, is getting Discover Dinnertime!

Review: I love this cookbook ... everything from the easy, family-friendly recipes and hints to the tone of the book, to the look of the book to the ideas for dinnertime conversation starters. It is just great. I highly recommend it to anyone. This is a cookbook everyone should have on their shelf.

Review: I received this book for Christmas. It is interesting reading even if one never made anything from it. There are lots of interesting recipes that appear to be simple enough to make. My first effort was the Lemon Buttermilk Custard pie. I wouldn't have guessed buttermilk could make such a great pie. This is a lemon lover's lemon! I think kids would enjoy the ideas for family dining.

My husband and I loved this and it makes use of the rice, canned tomatoes, and beans I always have on hand. The Rise 'n Shine Blueberry Bran Muffins were a Sunday morning hit as well. Discover Dinnertime makes creative use of packaged and prepared food items for delecious, fast meals. And if you don't have one ingredient on hand, the authors suggest a substitute -- that is thinking ahead! I plan on giving this cookbook to a few busy people I know. Great recipes and format.

Review: This cookbook was written with me in mind! I love to have my family around our dinner table but am not a whiz in the kitchen. Discover Dinnertime gives me lots of tasty recipes to choose from with simple, easy to follow instructions and the meals turn out to be delicious. The ideas for making dinner "family time" are really cute, too. I have given this cookbook to quite a few friends as gifts and they also enjoyed it -- I've given it as a birthday gift to my Mother and even as a baby gift! Congratulations on a great book, Susan!

Review: Who would ever think that you'd read a recipe book from cover to cover! I especially enjoyed your ideas for conversation starters as well as your comments about each recipe. Things I look for in a good cookbook are recipes that have ingredients already in our home and are quick and easy to make. Your Discover Dinnertime has these components as well as a touch of the gourmet. I've told several of my friends and family about this cookbook and those that have had a few minutes to look through it have really enjoyed it too. Best wishes to you!
