Review: Easy, we thought. Our church wanted to do a short-term mission trip. We had eager participants, all ready and willing to "go". We just didn't know what to do... or even where to go ... we'd never done this before!! Yikes!! To the rescue ... Vacations with a Purpose!!! The VWAP leaders manual provided insight from people who had lead teams before, practical training ideas and a checklist to get us started. I recommend this book for those just getting started with short-term missions, as well as to those who want to learn how to do better teams.

Review: If you have ever led a mission trip, been on a mission trip, or are interested in the benefits of short-term missions, reading VWAP is vital! Besides the basics of how to run a successful week, VWAP gives you incredible insight into understanding other cultures and how to facilitate a life-changing experience for your group. Being stripped away from our own culture and comforts can be overwhelming and VWAP has given me some guidance and structure in how to ask key questions, what emotions, fears, and questions to look for, and how to prepare people for the return to their homes with the newfound perspective. Short-term missions have had an incredible impact on my organization and God has definitely used the VWAP as a vessel of knowledge in the incredible ministry of short-term missions.

Review: Very "real world", comprehensive guide to experiencing and leading a short-term mission team. My experience with it came from two trips to Bolivia. The first as a team member, and the second as a team leader. Both times I found it to be an invaluable resource for preparing myself and others as we ventured into a totally foreign culture.
