Summary: These people just don't get it!
Review: A classic case of a couple whom think they know how to sail, buy a big expensive sail-boat (actually a motor sailer, as without the motor they could not SAIL this boat) and try to take their landbased life to sea with them. What a turn off this book is. What really got me is the gall they have in questioning the "work ethic" of some peoples they meet. Who the hell are they to say this? As they are the type of people whom beleive in the capitalistic materialistic "progress at any cost" type of sailors that often eminate from the USA and that motor-sail around the Pacific in their "Wondrous" 40 & 50 foot plus motor-sailors which are undercrewed, undercanvassed and not seaworthy as a result...period. But as they are of the type that I so despise, then that type of idiotic comment they make on "work ethic" doesn't surpise me.
These type of sailors (?) are to be avoided like the plague in Anchorages around the world.

Summary: A great vacation from home.
Review: As a mother of two with a fixer-upper house, my husband and I stay on dry land and do not take risky vacations. Ms. Wagner's book is great in that she shares the stage for being on an exotic get-a-way far from the comforts of home. Sometimes while doing dishes I look out the window and see the ocean - but fortunately for me - I have yet to get sea sick!
