Rating: Summary: Travel vicariously through the adventures of a family Review: This story kept me fully entertained and laughing throughout! It wasn't just travel but about a family and their adventures. It was inspiring for me to do the same. Reading about so many different places and honest reviews was refreshing. Cohen's sense of humor was such a treat! This book must be read if you like to travel or not!
Rating: Summary: TERRIFIC book! Review: What a fun book! Great reading for anyone who has ever yearned to pick up and go--you can live vicariously through these people who actually did it! In doing what most of us would be too terrified to do--giving up all material possessions, the Cohen family takes that huge leap and dares to live their dream.Lighthearted and fun, this book takes you along on their travels across the world with their three young children. (Can't agree with the main review that they endangered their children on the way--any parent knows that accidents will happen anywhere.) The book is casually written, following their adventures in letter format. If you are looking for serious cultural or travel info, this probably isn't the book for you. But if you want to curl up on the couch for a fun read, this is a great choice! I wish their trip had never ended, so I could have kept on reading their story.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: What a wonderful book! A remarkable family's adventurous journey full of love and humor.
Rating: Summary: They Lived My Dream Review: What an enjoyable experience! David Cohen makes travel writing seem effortless as he injects humor and wry observations amidst profound awe-inspiring moments. The e-mail-style letters broke each trip into quickly readable chapters that had me thinking, "I'll just read one more, and then I'll put it down." As far as taking the children along - I would love for my children to be exposed to such raw life experiences at such an impressionable age (and to make it out pretty much unscathed!) How lucky the three Cohen kids are for having gone on the trip - and that their creative parents understood that the benefits far outweighed the risks. Too bad David Cohen seemed too worn out and ready to get home as they made their way back through Japan and Hawaii. I was looking forward to reading their adventures in these two locales, but the book pretty much ends without any details about those parts of the trip. Hopefully, there will be a follow-up someday down the line!

Rating: Summary: Wonderful, just wonderful Review: What fun it was to read this book. My dream, but looks like David Cohen and his family got to it first. What I like most about the book are the desctription of the children. One in particular about turning the back to Grand Canyon to look at a chipmunk has become a family favorite. I am looking forward to an another book by the author.
Rating: Summary: Inspirational Review: When I came home from the bookstore with this book in tow, my husband groaned...not again! We've been a fortunate family who has had the luxury of travelling with our daughter, Meighen - 3yrs, twice in one year to international locales such as continental Europe (5 countries in 9 days) and remote Mexico for the Millennium. It was inspirational to dream of expanding our travels further throughout the world, and to get our travel 'training' from those who've already done it. A light, funny read for armchair and airline travellers alike.
Rating: Summary: Stick With Photography Review: While Cohen has extensive publishing experience as a photo editor, his writing lacks the style and grace that could make this family adventure come to life for readers. His writing seems forced. This could have been a great magazine article, or maybe next time, he could just publish a book of photos.
Rating: Summary: An Adventure not to be missed. Review: Who doesn't dream of seeing the whole world? And how many of us have thought that it will have to wait until the kids are older? Obviously the Cohens were one step ahead of us - they took the kids too! David talks about their successes, and their failures, all with a good dose of humor. They don't focus on the typical tourist attractions, but rather they inspire us to explore with them the rare and unusual. Some places I had never heard of... but want to know more about! And some places that I say - glad they went, but I wouldn't... I originally got the book from the library, but bought my own copy on amazon.com so I could take my time re-reading, using it as a reference for my own future travel, and reading it with my own children.
