Summary: A great guide to the hidden side of Florida.
Review: As a scuba diving instuctor and an active diver who visits the Florida panhandle at least six times a year, I was delighted to find a book about the springs of Florida. Undoubtedly, Florida's reefs and wrecks are better known, but to access them, one must first go through the condo-congested coastal areas and tourist jammed highways and airports. The springs are generally located in the interior, which means less development and less traffic, but more effort to reach and fewer amenities. The photographs, maps, and great detail about the natural history (particularly the fauna)are documented evidence that the effort is worth it, and evoke wonderful memories for those who have been there. For somebody interested in diving in the springs, this book captures the feel of this particular environment more effectively than the other guides to diving in Florida, and should be a great book for non-diving nature lovers as well.

Summary: Great book....
Review: Ever since I was a kid, the springs of Florida have fascinated me. I knew I wanted to get my scuba certification so I could dive them. I have dove many of these springs listed in this book, and I must say, the information is right on the money. If you are looking for a comprehensive dive guide, you are not going to find it in this book. What you will find is beautiful photographs of the native flora and fana of a spring, like plants, fish, reptiles, mammals (like the manatee)etc.... All in all, Mr. Stamm has given us a great book about the glorious, beautiful, and magical elude of Florids's fresh water springs. I highly recommend it....

Summary: Scuba information=Weak!
Review: Not much information here for planning dive trips.Just a bunch of fluffy information about fish and animal life.Pictures are so-so. MAYBE a coffee table book. But no way on a reasonable amount of useful dive information. Save your money!

Summary: I'm the author
Review: This book was photographed and written for the diver and spring side visitor who wants to know more about the springs environment. It is not a dive location guide, but a guide to the inhabitants and forces that make the springs of Florida a unique ecosystem in our world. They are beautiful places and inhabited by a variety of creatures. This book was made for divers and visitors who want to know more about what they see.
