Summary: don't judge a book by it's cover
Review: I bought this book based on the reccomendation from the other reviewer. When I received it, I was immediately impressed by the cool cover. However, after opening it, I found that it was essentially a 2 inch 3-ring binder with about 100 pages in it. About 2/3 of these pages are blank, and are supposed to be used to write your thoughts while traveling. The rest have very brief travel hints and recipes. The information was very superficial (i.e. names and addresses of restaurants) and would likely be available as a freebie from any tourist office in the BVI. Oh yes, there are also about 5 pages of plastic sleeves for inserting your own photos.

This book was not worth the $30 price. Luckily I was able to return the book to Amazon and get a refund on my money, but I'm still out the $8 in shipping costs. If I could have ranked it zero stars, I would have.

Summary: Unique!
Review: I recently went sailing in the BVI. Each evening, watching the sunset on deck during "coctail hour" my ship mates and I would discuss the events of that day, and plan the next. The daily recording in Ship's Log such important details such as the good snorkeling spots, or notes about a particular anchorage was fun, and now valuable as I am planning another trip for the spring. This is not a typical guide book in that it also acts as journal, photo album, and cookbook. The authors point us in the right direction, and we take it from there. I found it to be creative, fun, and informative. Susie's Rum Punch is great!

Summary: Pretty Cover but no substance
Review: I'd have to agree with another reviewer who said it is essentially a very pretty 3 ring binder. I was disappointed when I opened the book. It is a slick journal cover but for the price tag it is a poor value. I suspect even those that like the idea and have made a trip to the BVI soon found they couldn't begin to hold their "highlight" photos in the pages.

Review: Just returned from a great week in the BVIs. We used the book to record and plan our visits to ports and harbors. Charted our course on the course page. Fantastic restaurant recommendations! Now we have a record of our trip comlete with with our own photographs. Loved it! Well worth the money.

Summary: Wonderful memories
Review: My husband and I recently honeymooned in the British Virgin Islands. We received Ship's Log as a shower gift. We used Ship's Log to record each day's activities, including meals, sunsets, fish that we saw while snorkeling, and what made each day special. There were also some great recommendations for restaurants, day sails and snorkeling spots. We have been back for a few weeks but have already enjoyed looking back on the journal we kept during our honeymoon. If you are planning a trip to the British Virgin Islands and want to be sure you capture all of the wonderful things about your trip, I highly recommend this book.

Summary: lasting memories
Review: While it will not replace a traditional guidebook, this Ship's Log can both point you in the right direction and help you remember next time where you went. If you use this book during your trip, you will not find yourself reminiscing about that awesome snorkeling spot "somewhere between virgin gorda and George Dog" or the best rum punch ever "at some beach shanty in tortola". If you want to recommend something you saw or did, just open your ship's log, consult your notes and tell them exactly where to go. That rum punch was at the Bomba Shack, and the bartender's name was Celeste. The three couples on our boat did a lot of laughing as we filled out our ship's log during cocktail hours. Now that we are back on the mainland, every six months or so we all get together and make daquiris, pull out our Ship's Logs and laugh some more. Really a way to hold on to and remember your trip. For me, made the pleasure of the vacation last!
