Summary: Language of the Snow Leopard
Review: This is a book about a search, for many things besides the elusive snow leopard of the title. I bought two copies of this book, one to keep at home and one at the office. It's that good. The tale itself is one of interest to me. I learned much about the Himalayas and about the religion and culture of the people who dwell in those mountains. But, as a writer myself, the true wealth of the work is in the beautifully elegant language. I've marked off numerous passages of absolutely brilliant description or metaphor, and I return again and again to them as I try to create my own prose. I can't recommend The Snow Leopard highly enough.

Review: This is one of the best books I've read in quite a while. Written in jornal format, the book wonderfully brings to life the ups and downs(so to speak) of the personal journey, while at the same time describes the ambience of Tibet and its culture and wildlife, and the history of Buddhism.

Review: Tried to read this book after many people's high reviews, but I could not get past all his talk of Zen and Buddhism. I kept getting confused by all the religious talk when all I wanted to know about was the physical journey.

Review: When I first picked up this book, I was entranced by his descriptive writing. It was not the type of book that I consumed all at once. It took time to get through it because his travel descriptions got very dense as well as his inner experience during the journey. I learned about Buddhism and the B'on religion that predates it. Anyone who has an interest in Buddhism or Nepal and Tibet would enjoy this book. Keep in mind that it's not a light read.
