Rating: Summary: really good guidebook Review: I used this new guide while on a cruise in the Norwegian fjords. It was absolutely terrific - there was great information on Bergen and a wonderful diagram which showed the geology of the fjords. My next vacation will be to Portugal and the Mediterranean, and I'm using the guide to help plan my time in Lisbon and Seville. There seem to be plenty of useful tips on local markets and places of interest. And the beautiful pictures make the book a great souvenir.
Rating: Summary: really good guidebook Review: Sub-standard in every respect... I really have enjoyed the previous Dk Eyrewitness Travel Guides offered for various cities and countries but the 'Guide To Europe & The Mediterranean' offers nothing for the 'cruise' passenger and the affected port of calls. Maps are missing and details about the actual port itself are near non-existant. This book reflects the need that Dk Eyewitness Travel Guides had nothing on the shelves for the cruiseship passenger. What they accomplished was taking previous written information on the cities one might venture to from the ship and then detailing that city. Simply taken from previous land guides. Missing is port information, port sidetrips, alternative sightseeing and how to get around once in port. Boring and without content. Very uninformative. See FROMMERS for real travel guides about the wonderful world of cruising. A sub-standard cruise book in every respect.
