Rating: Summary: I Couldn't put it down. Review: The author did a great job balancing all the bad things that happen at Disneyland with why it is the "Happiest Place on Earth". Very interesting. Just don't loan the book to anyone, because you'll never see it again!
Rating: Summary: One book you can't put down, funny and eye-opening. Review: I worked for Disney and this book pretty much sums it all up. It is so funny to read the stuff that you participate in everyday...knowing things the normal guest doesn't know. Our secrets are revealed.
Rating: Summary: It Was Such A great Book If You Love Disneyland Review: This is a great book beacuse I love Disneyland and it told secrets and cool info.
Rating: Summary: The best Coffee table book I have!! Review: A few friends who work at the "Mouse-House" told me about this with this simple quote: "Ever wondered how careless people can get? Get this book and check out chapter 8." It contains stories that I have heard over the years or have read in old news-paper articles. After having this book for 3 years, it is time to retire my old copy and obtain a new one. After being in many hands, and chapter 8 being dog-eared to where the corner finally fell off. This book is great reading even if it is fiction or non fiction. Read about silly lawsuits, secrets behind the scenes at disneyland, what the characters in costume have to put up with, and in chapter 8 - read about how the slowest ride has claimed the most lives. A must have for anyone who loathes or loves disneyland!
Rating: Summary: I enjoyed reading it, it let me know stuff I didn't. Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I am a disney fanatic, but when I found out about this book, I had to read it. I did and it gave me great insight to the things that go on without the public knowing.
Rating: Summary: NOT FOR KIDS Review: Mickey Mouse has capitalized on the "When Animals Attack" phenomenon with this book. The book tells of graphic dismemberments on the "Matterhorn", drownings en route to "Tom Sawyers Island", and raping and pillage on "Pirates of the Carribbean". This book should have been titled, "When Mickey Attacks". Terrible
Rating: Summary: The Mysteries of the Mouse Review: Have you ever wondered what secrets lie beyond the threshold of Sleeping Beauty's castle door? Well, if you ever have, Daivid Koenig's "Mouse Tales: A behind the Ears look at Disneyland" is where you should look to find your answers. Koenig's book is filled with interesting facts that the people of Disney don't EVER want the public to know, since they so desperatly want to keep their magical illusion alive. When one enters Disneyland, they tend to forget that it is a real place and that accidents, violence, and even death can occur and shatter the happy atmosphere into pieces. I am an obsessed Disneyland fanatic, and was shocked yet deeply interested as I read of the factual events that took place - and many of them were not very cheerful. In fact, many were rather grotesque and morbid. You may ask why I would speak so highly of these awful happenings. Well, put simply, we are sheltered so much from the truth (especially in the case of Disneyland) that one cannot help but be intriguied. Koenig also puts you in the shoes of a Disneyland cast member, in which the reader discovers that it is not the "happiest" job on earth. Despite all of the things I had never imagined to occur at Disneyland, my love and admiration for the place has not changed. I am not afraid to visit the theme park, nor will I ever be. The book had the tendency to alter my decision to ever enter the park again, but it did not. It only made me more aware. Although it is not worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize, it is destined to become a contemporary "Disney" classic, because it is written extremely well and has the potential to lure in other curious Disneyland fanatics or even the regular Joe.
Rating: Summary: Fast-paced reading for the Disney Fanatic! Review: Upon opening to the first chapter, you can't put this book down. I love everything about Disney, and this is so much fun to read. I laughed and laughed at all the hysterics printed within. It is a great entertainment and good for some decent trivia about Disneyland you never knew! I reccommend this to every Disney fan out there! Enjoy!!!
Rating: Summary: Disney "behind the scenes?" Gimme a break!! Review: David Koenig spent many a night at Acapulco Restaurant on Harbor Blvd (just across the street from Disneyland) where he plied Disney cast members with drink to "spill their guts." While Koenig did get some SLIGHTLY 'never before heard' tales, after a short time, the Disney gang had sniffed him out, and began regaling Koenig with fantastic tales that were TRULY new, as they never happened. As a Disney cast member for over 8 years , my only wish was to have been one of the many who helped make an ass of this man by giving him outrageous whoppers (all of which he believed) to fill his "tell all" book. Little of what is in these pages is actually true, and many aren't even physically possible. Case in point: the Japanese in the submarine leaving the dock story - this can't happen as it was told, so if it didn't happen that way, there was no way it happened at all, or there would be no "incident." Don't waste your money buying this book and don't waste your time reading it.
