Summary: Light Re-Work of Twain's Conn. Yankee in King Arthur's Court
Review: Crichton produces a fun, light-weight, sci-fi/adventure. Now I think I'll go back and re-read Twain's original.

Summary: WOW! A Fantastic Journey!
Review: I'm a time travel nut so when this book came out I HAD TO HAVE IT! I'm so glad I did. The story line is great and the characters (all archeologists) are believable. It's got suspense, romance, adventure...everything! Michael Chrichton has a great story here...read it!

Summary: Fiction with interesting detail, and a rpg game story
Review: Just like all other Crichton's fiction, this fiction is full of historical and sci details and viewpoints which is informative and refreshing to layman readers, like me. The story however owe the details a comparable match. Why theme park again? Jurassic Park blend with the plot but for a evil business man, why not make a more ambitious project with faster and earlier return? With the long investment period and uncontrollable local opinions and restriction, why the hassel? Why make a parallel line that don't interact with the main plot? The 14th century team never try to contact David. Apparently, David's assignment is only to remind the readers this is a 14th and 20th cocktail thriller. Why the characters and flow of story so predictable? It seems to me that the fiction is ready for filming and role play game. However, the details given to Andre's feeling is so thin that make his stay rather awkard and aribitary. This sudden romantic decision doesn't fit in the entire framework. Narration with Chris's viewpoint is unfortunate, for most of the time he's totally occupied by his pain and passive to all influenatic events, why not the wise professor have a share? He's practically anonymous in the fiction. As Crichton's fans, i have expectation to his fiction, though this one may not be his best but still a really enjoyable fiction and one must not miss.

Summary: Superb Writer
Review: Michael Crichton is a master of science fiction. He has the uncanny ability to take popular scientific subjects such as dinosaurs, time travel, and disease control and create an incredible action packed story with great twists and never ending suspense. WOW!

Summary: Now My Favorite Book
Review: Timeline is the best book I have read to date. I was given this book as a gift, and never got around to reading it. About 6 months later, I'm bored one day and pick it up. After that, I couldn't put it down! The plot was great, full of action, some mystery, and even a comic line here and there. Timeline is the only Crichton novel I have read, but I plan on reading many more of his works. This was a GREAT book, and I recommend it to anyone who likes time-travel and historic-fiction.

Summary: THRILLER FROM BEGINING TO END...!
Review: This book was an absolute thriller from begining to end because of Michael Crichton paints the pictures in your head. It's a great book. I couldn't put it down. If you like medieval history, modern day theories, science and so on...this book is for you. Well, even if you aren't interested in that, It's still for you!

Summary: Couldn't put it down!
Review: Crichton's spin on this often repeated theme (going back in time) was a super read; a roller-coaster in a book! OK, the "villian" seemed familiar, as well as the token female researcher, but I found the idea of going back to a very scary (to the modern reader) time, to rescue someone, plausible. Mr. Crichton really knows how to tell a story so that even the most unlikely scenario seems possible. The semi-science mixed with historical fiction worked for me. I loved the book!

Summary: Par The Course For Crichton
Review: I really like Michael Crichton books. At his worst, he writes a compelling story that keeps you turning the pages with little or no cognitive effort. At his best, he can introduce a new scentific theory and illustrate its impacts on society with an entertaining story.

Timeline falls somewhere between these two extremes. Although he does well with the quantum theory in the beginning, he tends to drop this element of the storyline in order to pursue one that involves chase scenes and damsels in distress.

It is an engaging read, but don't expect to be too challenged by the content.

Summary: Crichton, Back On Track
Review: Timeline kept me turning pages, enthralled with what was coming next. After Airframe, which read more like an instruction manual on building planes than a story, I purchased Timeline with great trepidation. What I found was the elements of Jurassic Park and Sphere, two of his finest pieces of work. Though I felt a bit overloaded with too much information, which is in true Crichton fashion, I closed the book recommending it to anyone that has read his previous work--naturally adding the qualifier that it is nothing like Airframe (sorry Michael, but it bored me to tears). This is definitely a worth-while read.

Summary: A Blend of History & Science
Review: A nice quick read for anyone who has a combined interest in science, history, and an energetic thriller.
