Summary: One of his Best
Review: Michael Crichton is not known for writing a masterpiece or really a truly great novel, but he seems to be consistant with good ficton. I have noticed that every one of his novels have never been complete. He has always left out details, and corrupted the plot with excess action. Which is okay but in this case the idea of a time machine and going to another time needs a masterpiece of an introduction and a very detailed body. The conclusion doesn't really matter. Michael Crichton's "Timeline" missed many opputunities to add specific details. Every one of his novels should be huge. But he tends to leave out details thinking that it does not matter.

In Timeline their is a weak introduction, with a lack in details. He never explains all we need to know about the time that the book is studying. So therefore it has a weak body. He doesn't tell us too much about the time. He just concentrates on the mission and the action.

Overall a good novel, needs details, but it keeps you intrested. All the way to the end it has nonstop action. But the ending is the weakest part of the book but it didn't hurt the plot because as I said the ending didn't matter. It's a good book to read if you have nothing else.

Summary: Great novel that mixes history with modern science.
Review: I'm a big history and science buff, so this book was everything I wanted. It didn't get 5 stars because it seemed to get rushed at the ending. The first half or third were very slow, but enjoyable. As soon as the last 150 pages rolled around, the pace was very fast. It wasn't so fast that you missed somethings, but it was a little fast for my liking. Still a good book if you like history and adventure.

Summary: Don't miss this one.
Review: For lovers of time travel and the medievel period, this is a not to be missed book.

Summary: What a great book!!
Review: I love stories about time travel and love the medieval period. I am not a Crichton fan (sorry Michael) but I loved this book and have recommended it to all my friends. It had some nice twists and turns and the bad guy got it in the end.

Summary: Couldn't put it down.
Review: I love sci-fi, and history. This is a neat mix of both. In particalar, I enjoy reading historical recreations that are as much as possible accurate. This indeed seems to be one of those. Its true that the plot does become typical Hollywood about half way through, and all of the good guys get what they want, and the bad guys are punished, but so what? This is good fun. I read the thing in a day, after all. That should tell you something.

Summary: Creative idea ruined by silly formulaic plot
Review: Despite some interesting aspects, this book quickly degenerates into a 200 page chase sequence (can anyone say 'Jurassic Park'). I didn't keep track, but there must have been at least twenty instances where one of the characters was rescued from certain death at just the last second. A completely predictable (and well-telegraphed) ending is the icing on the cake.

The explanation of time travel is fairly well done, but as in most stories of this type, the holes in the plot are big enough to pass a medieval castle through. The book provides an interesting glimpse into a time period that most people have never learned about, but this is not enough reason to recommend this book.

All in all, a good premise is ruined by Crichton's standard formula of shallow characters and a silly plot.

Summary: Best Book I've Read In Awhile!
Review: Excellent! I couldn't put it down. This is one of Michael Crichton best books ever.

Summary: Excellent adventure story
Review: I must say that it was a great adventure story. Very good page turner. I don't know if the historical facts are very accurate, but still, it makes a great story. Try to ignore the technical aspects of the book ;) They just don't add up. Definately worth reading.

Summary: It's a great start . . .
Review: For those of you interested in time travel -- this read is like heroin. For those of you interested in the facts surrounding multiple universes, better move on.

Like Paco Ahlgren's, DISCIPLINE, this book is heavily influenced by David Deutsch and Hugh Everett (theory of multiple universes, or The Multiverse Interpretation). But unlike it's fictional counterpart, Crichton fails to stay within the boundaries of reality -- or at least THEORETICAL reality.

Still, it's a great way to be introduced to the intricacies of modern quantum mechanics -- if only at a superficial level.

Loads of fun!!!

Summary: An Excellent book!
Review: Michael Crichton always makes his books with an air of possibility about them. This book does just that and more. This story is a very indepth tale of time travel to the past that goes wrong but has a very intresting ending about it. If you like this book you can also play the game which is well developed for people who really enjoyed the book or are to lazy to read.
