Summary: Twenty First Century Historians in Fourteenth Century France
Review: I'm not a fan of science fiction, but this is a zinger. As he did in Jurassic Park, Crichton makes the science upon which he bases the story seem so logical. If you don't look at it too closely, you're hooked. Using quantum technology, a corporation can send people through time, but a history professor who traveled back to fourteenth century France got stuck there. A team travels back to rescue him. Once they are there, the story becomes a rip-roaring adventure in medieval France. It's a tale that will keep you turning the pages.

Summary: Adventure?Time travel? Quantom Physics? What else is there?
Review: History doesn't just live in text books anymore. Why read about history when you can live it? History becomes reality when you can "fax" yourself into a parallel dimension and experience the life and times yourself. Let the past become the future! Be the gallant hero, be the damsel in distress-just like in the movies. But maybe the movies would be safer, considering in the day and age of Mid-evil France, you're more likely to be involved in a Feudal war, the bubonic plague or just plain get your head cut off. But millionaire Donager, master of quantum physics didn't tell the three reluctant historians sent there that part. Now, they're caught up in a dangerous race against time, trying to save the professor, stop the war, and get home before time is up and they're stuck in the Middle Ages permanently! A compelling novel, laced with stunning detail, crammed with swash-buckling action and even a little romance...A great book, one I dare you to try to put down! You can get lost in the mystery of the mad knight and the giant in the Green Chapel. These are just some of the twists and turns you'll find in this novel. The immense amount of accurate details added credibility to this story. The bits about physics can drag, but just stick with it, in the end, you'll be hooked! Michael Crichton even added historic language to his time-traveling novel that excites, stirs and ignites the imagination. Whether you are a history buff, or slept through the class, you're sure to enjoy this entertaining tale and end up looking for other novels from this author.

Summary: Good and fast summer reading.
Review: "Timeline" is a very enjoyable summer reading. Crichton is as always well-spirited in finding a perfect ways to make things turn very fast and keep the reader on the edge of its seat. "Timeline" introduces time travel, although Crichton baffles things a bit by introducing a well-meant but probably too confusing details about multi-universe and quantum physics (that's why I've rated the book 4-star, and not 5). Main heroes (historians working on the project sponsored by some shrewd billionaire) are lost in medieval France, fighting hunger, own fears, ravenous knights, and racing against time in order to come back in one piece. The book has several twists and interesting plots but also some unfinished schemes. The reading is fast, and when it is over, one would like to see the sequel, or at least to have a chance to read some more. Is Crichton at his best? Probably not, but he proves he can write fantastic historical fictions. I wish he would do it again.

Summary: A very good read
Review: I picked this book up at an airport bookstore during a vacation trip and I wasn't disappointed. I read my first Michael Crichton book as a teenager and have always enjoyed his ability to weave scientific theory and fact into his storylines. His knack for making the reader feel the sights and sounds he describes continues in this story. I found myself looking forward to picking this up every evening and couldn't wait to see what the next page would bring. While many reviewers might find fault with aspects of his style, this is a fun book to read. I would recommend it highly.

Summary: Great book for a Physics major!
Review: This is not great literature, but it sure is damn fun to read. I liked it because it made a reasonable attempt to explain (within the bounds of fiction) how time travel could be possible. It also presents history and its study in interesting terms. But most of all, it keeps the reader on the edge of his seat.

Summary: A neat historical science fiction.
Review: In Timeline, a company has invented a way to travel through time. A professor studying midevil times is sent back to this time period; however, he becomes stuck here. His graduate students find a note from the professor explaining his whereabouts while they are excavating a site, and the students go back in time to rescue the professor. The book is historically accurate, with the exception of instances where the character's observe that things are different in the past than we believe they are in the present.

Summary: reveiw by Amy
Review: ...I have read all of Michael Crichton's books save Eaters of The Dead which I am reading now.I liked this book sometimes and the next chapter would be dreadfully boring. It was rather on and off. It had some exiting moments, like when one of the charactors is on the rafters high above the ground. I like most medieval books because they have no guns. Guns,I think, kill people too easily...I also liked the idea of quantum foam. One of the things that are difficult for me in Crichton's books is I cant always distinguish what is fact anf what is fiction.I would recomend this book to someone in their late teens. It is good for guys AND girls...

Summary: forgot how good he is!
Review: This book was a terrific surprise. I loved Jurassic Park(much better and scarier than the movie!!) and Congo was good too. Hadn't read any others until I bought this. I highly recommend it for a good read.

Summary: History minded readers who enjoy action will love it!
Review: Although slow starting, his latest novel picks up speed in the normal Crichton manner and moves quickly to a somewhat disappointing ending. It doesn't matter to this reviewer, however, once a Crichton fan, always a fan. The action and adventure are superb as is the storyline. Masterfully written.

Summary: I enjoyed this
Review: 50/50 on this one. There is a lot of action in this book. If you want a page by page ride, this will work for you. I read it and had a hard time putting it down, though still felt a bit of a let down.

At points, the author makes a big deal to get one point across, then in the next chapter, they seem to not mention it In one chapter, everyone is wondering where so-in-so is and in the last part of the chapter, we see this person. In the next chapter, he is not mentioned. So there is a build up and then........
