Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not your normal Chrichton
Review: It seems that Chichton tried to write a historical fiction novel. If that's what you were looking for, this book is great for you. That isn't what I was expecting.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great action sequences
Review: I really enjoyed the book. Although one can see it is definately written for the masses, it really kept me glued. I finished it in two sessions.

The action sequences are very high tempo and keeps on for quite a few pages.

I bet the movie will out soon?

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Fun and Educational, but can get tedious at times
Review: 'Timeline' is a story that is mainly about a team of scientists who travel back to the middle ages to rescue their professor.

The best part of the story is that weaves fact with fiction -- I found facsinating the author's description of the physics of time travel and his insights into life in Medieval France.

Unfortunately, the bulk of the plot revolves around the 'good guys' running away from the 'bad guys', with nothing much else of substance.

Anyway I have read quite a few of Mr. Crichton's books and I would rate this as average -- good for vacation reading and picking up a few tidbits about the physics of time travel and medieval life, but don't expect much more.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Melt a good writer with good research and voila!
Review: The descriptions about middle-ages and time-travel are examples of good documentation. Besides the plot is not out of common, the writer's ability makes this book a good one.

If you are interested in History and Sci-Fi read it.

Summary: Boo! Garbage!
Review: Crichton has a habit of producing books that are either superb or utter rubbish. Timeline, though it has a premise of incredible potential, is uninspired and disappointing; it may even surpass Lost World in terms of dull heroes and unacceptable plot. By unacceptable, I mean that the reader is never able to completely suspend their disbelief and accept the situations the paper-chain characters find themselves in. I was also sad to see Crichton contradict his eloquent explanations of time travel in Sphere - a book more enjoyable because the science was better explained and incorporated.

If you had the power to go back in time, why go to France in the middle ages? Why not find out who really killed Kennedy and examine the life of Jesus, or bring back a dinosaur and start some sort of Jurassic park... oh, never mind.

Summary: A Marvelous Mix
Review: Another unique concept from Crichton's unbelievable boddy of knowledge. When I started reading, I expected archeology but was led into time travel. Now, I have avoided time travel because it is usually phony and phony resounds throughout the whole story. It's usually so concocked that the plot becomes a time traveler ie.way out there. But this story is a 180 degree switch. The methodology was fantastic, almost believable, why not? it seems plausible, possible and porttends the future. I could not put it down and read all night because I had to participate if even by reading if not in person. I was sad, glad, and mad when I finished ...Sad that it was all over; glad to have read it, and mad that it was longer or that I had read more slowly. It is really a fantastic story.

Summary: Great
Review: Increadible. Crichton scores again. I think Timeline is his best book since Sphere. If you liked most of his books, you'll love this one. The writing is great, the story is great, and it's as believable as Jurrasic Park. Wonderrul book.

Summary: Hmmm
Review: I like it, but I think this one is a one you must read twice.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Michael Crichton did it again!
Review: M.c.'s newest book, Timeline, is Crichton at his very best! The story has plenty of good guys and bad guys, both in and out of the fourtenth century, including Robert Doniger, Lord Oliver, Sir Robert DeKeere, and the general medieval terror. Doniger, the generally all-around jerk that owns ITC, is a brilliant physist.
Lord Oliver is an egoistic warlord, and his servants, Sir Robert and Sir Guy are evil, and our hero historians trapped in the fourteenth century must survive it. This book makes you wonder: Is it possible to travel to the past?

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Crichton's best!
Review: I have read every single one of Michael Crichton's novels, and have come to the conclusion that Timeline is his best. Timeline has one of the most gripping storylines, which integrates scientific data and science fiction into a compelling plot. Although I do realize that if theoretic physics bores you, you might not find as much pleasure from reading it as I did. All in all, if you are a fan of Crichton, or are a fan of the science fiction genre, then you will love this novel.
