Summary: Wonderful
Review: Great story, great characters and character development. It keeps the pace up, it never really slows down but it doesn't go too fast. Good action scenes and just for the record I have read it so many times. What else is there to say, just read it and love it.

Summary: One of Crichton's best
Review: I liked this book a lot - it is up there with Jurassic Park and Congo as one of Crichton's best, filled with good plotting, tight deadlines, fun science, pseudoscience, historical and pseudohistorical facts and interesting ideas. He really has researched the middle ages and it's fun to have the time travelers compare reality to stereotype. Although this is easy to read, it takes a lot of work to write and research/imagine the many small details that make it so much fun. It is Crichton's expert ability at doing this that has made the very rich and successful man he is today. Plus, who doesn't like time travel?

Summary: Timeline and Jurassic Park.
Review: The similarities between Timeline and Jurassic Park are legion. But the most important similarity is that both books peaked in the middle and went downhill from there. The descriptions of the dinosaur cloning techniques and the travel-to-parallel-universe techniques were very fun. Then both books deteriorated rapidly -- Jurassic Park into a dinosaurs-chasing-people story (in which you knew the kids would be spared), Timeline into a medieval knights-chasing-people story (in which you knew the spunky heroine wouldn't be killed). In each case, the first half of the book was worthwhile enough to overcome the flaws of the second half.

Summary: Wow!
Review: There is only one word to summarize this book. WOW. I am a 14 year old reading fanatic and Michael Crichton is, to me, the author of authors. This book proves it. I never thought he would be able to write a better novel than Jurassic Park, or Congo, or even The Lost World. (Hear me out, the movie did not do an ounce of justice to the book) But Timeline blows them all away. I reccomend it to everyone I meet, and as of now, I am reccomending it to you!

Summary: READ IT
Review: At first I only bought Timeline for a required summer reading project, but i finished in a day cuz i was hooked! From the beginning it was exciting, when a mysterious man was found in the middle of no where and later dies in a bath of blood, and the end was extremely satisfying too. I recommend anyone to this book, it's seriously good, Michael Crichton is a genius.

Summary: The best Crichton book yet!!!
Review: I have read just about all the fictional Michael Crichton books (which are all, by the way, superb) and I have to say that Timeline is the best of them all. The descriptions and diagrams of quantum physics contained in the book aren't too dull and are, in fact, necessary in order for the story to make sense. The adventure, suspense, and mystery of the novel make every word exciting. Timeline is one of those books that you can't put down after the first couple of chapters. You'll want to finish reading it fast, just so you'll know what happens and yet, when you're at the very end of the book, you won't want to say goodbye to the characters described in the novel.

Summary: Review for lazy high school students
Review: In my 15 years of life I have read a total of 5 books with more than 300 pages. This was easily the best of those 5. This was still an amazing book. So if you do not like to read but must for school this is a great book to read and you will enjoy it.

Summary: Time To Unwind With Adventure Of Old
Review: If you've read Crichton before, you know he comes across as a highly intelligent, very thorough writer who feels details are the key to believable fiction. I was working for a major book retailer when Timeline came out and found it odd so many of his fans were more preoccupied with the release of a third Jurassic Park book called "Embryo" than his latest creation about time travel. Embryo never materialized, and Timeline sold fairly well, but I never heard any reviews or comments about it. I finally procured Timeline for myself and found it reads very much like a classic Crichton tale-a slow buildup with lots of technical descriptions in the beginning, though in this story, thank God, he was kind enough to omit the bulk of the diagrams and such he seems to favor, then on to grand adventure! Considering the scientific theories used and/or created for this piece of fiction, I still found a few points difficult to swallow-mainly character reaction to some of the goings-on. Many things seemed to fit together a little too smoothly, keeping the pace fast and the action almost non-stop, creating a high-flying, swashbuckling story that struck me as almost dull in its predictability and formulaic layout. It comes across as a little boy's knights-n-armor fantasy made true, which isn't bad. It's actually quite entertaining and fun...I just think Crichton could have roughed it up a bit and added a few more surprises instead of letting it play out to its predictable end. A bedtime story for grown-ups. Read it-don't think about it. Just relax and let Uncle Michael tell you a tale about knights and battles and beautiful conniving heroines from a long, long time ago...

Summary: Even French people will learn about French history.
Review: I like most of Crichton's novels, but as a Frenchman, I was a little sceptic about this author writing a novel whose setting is my country's historical times.

I was dead wrong ! Reading this book, which is entertaining ans has lots of action, I have learnt things about my country, such as the fact that people of that time were not smaller but taller than us (they had to endure harsh living conditions, thus natural selection only retained the strongest).

Summary: A MUST READ!!!
Review: Michael Crichton has taken us from a tropical island inhabited by genetically cloned dinosaurs, from the depths of an African jungle swarming with killer gorillas, to a wild ride back in time to the age of kings, knights, and the bubonic plague. In his thrilling novel "Timeline," Crichton, a true master of fiction, introduces the reader to a very likeable group of "medieval-ly" enthusiastic college students from Yale who embark on a journey, thanks to a New Mexico based technology company that has discovered a way to transport people to parallel universes (all of which existing at a different points in history), to 14th-century France, a very different and deadly period of time, during the Hundred Years War to find their college professor who has traveled back to A.D. 1357 without them. This small group of time travelers must get accustomed to living the lives of "Middle-Age" Europeans they had been studying in college so they can rescue their teacher and return to the modern age. Will their knowledge of the customs and conditions of feudal France enable them to survive and rescue their mentor? Or, will the highly unstable, highly dangerous days of broadswords, jousting, disease, and deceit prove too much for the 21st-century scholars? Only TIME will tell.
