Summary: Yes, it's like a screenplay, but a GREAT one!
Review: I hope this book is made into a movie, and it had BETTER star Arnold. The tape even used his accent, and I pictured him all through listening. "Aahl take caere ov you", good grief who else could it be? This was an extremely entertaining story, and was wonderfully read. Negative reviewers should note the word "fiction". They should quit complaining, and go read a text book or something.

I will say that I agree with the irritation that the characters in the beginning of the book seemed to disappear. I rather liked them.

Summary: My First Time
Review: I thought the book was exellent! Even though Timeline is the first of Michael Chrichton's books that I've read. I am astounded that so many other customer reviews are negative because I truly enjoyed this book from beginning to... the end could have been a bit better. I did not like Andre remaining in the other universe and when they found out about Andre's life at the end. It just didn't seem right. And the thing with the earpieces... I agree with a previous reviewer that the whole translating thing was a bit ridiculous. All in all I did have fun reading this book and I will definately read his others.

Summary: Had its moments.
Review: Timeline was written around some interesting concepts like quantum computers, interdimentional time travel and what it was like 650 years ago. It had its moments where in Crichton's explanations of these concepts I was hooked.

However, the plot was weak and the story wasn't realy well written. It seemed that he hastily came up with an end to it.

Summary: Are all Crichton books the same?
Review: I have to agree with the review below from Kickstand. Timeline was the first Crichton book i had read. From Timeline I read Jurassic Park...I know i was the only person left on earth that had not READ OR SEEN it. I cannot believe how alike they are...it is almost insulting to the reader.

When I read Timeline I liked it quite a bit, i thought the technology, the plot and the time period were all very clever. Little did I know it was the same story as Juassic. It makes me want to dust off the typewriter and make an easy couple of million.

Summary: Ultimate Crichton
Review: Pack your bags for this mind boggling adventure. This book is not only informative but it is truly fascinating and exciting. I admit that there were times where the plot became too tense that i had to put the book down to catch my breath. It is a ride and an incredible read.

Summary: Great book for anyone
Review: I had the opportunity to give a 15 minute presentation on a SF book for a college course I was taking. I had heard about this book, but really didn't know what it was about. I bought the book and had it finished within two days-very unusual for me. I love the way Crichton plays with the thoughts of medieval history and the 100 Years War. I think there are many other movies and aspects that he ties in: The Matrix, 13th Floor, The Time Machine, Star Gate, A Canticle for Leibowitz... I also liked the way he portrayed the time period. None of the romatics stuff people usually think of. I would recommend this to anyone. It is really facinating!

Summary: A cross between "Highlander" and NASA
Review: At first I didn't understand the detail of the archeology dig, but after chapter 1, I was hooked. I would read until my eyes crossed and then read more.

Summary: Huge letdown
Review: A rather boring book. Draws attention to what is possibly interesting science, however unable to hold the readers interest in the plot. The book just drags on forever. Have to agree with some other readers that this book seems to have been written with a movie script in mind. Skip this book...save some time, energy and money

Summary: Entertaining, but Major Flaws
Review: Because of plenty of action, I found this book a good read which kept my attention. I had to get past plenty of drawbacks, however, first and foremost Crichton's unending trademark lecturing. Also, as a previous reviewer noted, parallel universes is a tough one to swallow, quantum physics or no. Face it, that was a feeble catch-all to get around the paradox dilemna. Another problem with the time travel concept is why, once we've developed the technology, we are not being visited by future travellers, who would be benefitting by perfected technology? This and many other questions are left unanswered by this story. To enjoy this book, accept it for what it is, a fantasy--but wait for the paperback.

Summary: Its a comedy, right?
Review: I really can't say much about this book as the story doesn't have enough substance to critic but if they do make it into a movie I hope they go for the comedy genre. The guy who had the lead in the 1999 movie "The Mummy" would be great for one of the leads.
