Summary: A Fun Read with a Movie in Mind
Review: Timeline is the first Michael Crighton novel that I have read. It was the cover that caught my attention, being a history buff. I found the book to be an easy, fun read but from the start saw a movie script written in. Let's face it, Crighton is big in the media, so if he writes with a film in mind, what else should we expect? However, it was a smart, entertaining book and I read it in 2 evenings. Something I haven't done in ages. Less than halfway through the book I was trying to figure out who would be the right actor for each part, and I agree with a previous reviewer....Marek would be difficult to cast. If you want a quick, fun, exciting read, check out this book...Sure, it will be a movie, but now I have more to look forward to!

Summary: Timeline for the movies
Review: I've read all of Crichton's novels, and have had a fine time doing it. Timeline is beautifully researched, a good plot, and it reads like a movie. I can't say exactly what that means, but by the end it seemed to overwhelm the story. It no longer seemed to be written as a book, on it's own, but as a treatment, to be filmed. For all of its excitement, it demanded very little exercise of the imagination, and was just plain not as much fun to read.

Summary: What is past is prologue?
Review: It's been done before...time travel...but probably not quite so entertainingly. You can idle through the explanation as to how this is accomplished, because I'm not sure that the author quite got it, but it's of no moment. They can travel...coming back in the same exact form as you left seems to be a problem, however. That is a fact that is kept from our intrepid adventurers, but not from the reader. This story really moves and is full of interesting and apparently accurate information when it takes us back to the 1350's. To read about those days from Mr.Crichton's viewpoint makes one glad to have been born in the 20th century. The story of what is happening back at the laboratory is not quite so compelling, but the book certainly holds the readers interest while telling a darn good yarn. I would give this 4 and a half stars, if half stars were available. You won't regret having bought it.

Summary: Hmmm....
Review: I have to admit, after reading this book I actually did do alittle bit of reading up on quantum physics and differentdimensionalities, etc. I'm still pretty boggled by the whole thing. Anyway, I found the book to be very enjoyable. Not quite the usual Crichton (thus the 4 stars instead of 5), but supsenseful and amusing nonetheless. I got the book for Christmas and read it before classes resumed. I didn't find it the least bit "boring" or "tiring" or "contrived". I also found the change of pace from the usual Crichton dinos or corporate fare of late to medieval France intriguing. I would definitely recommend it to fiction lovers, old Crichton fans and new initiates alike. END

Summary: Fantastic Setting
Review: Timeline was fastpaced and fun to the end, but I enjoyed the setting more than anything else. I've always had an affection for the Medieval times, and with Timeline the reader is presented with many interesting facts about this time period without the hindering tedium of a history book. By far the best of Crichton settings.

Summary: Crichton's Timeline
Review: I've read quite a few of Michael Crichton's books. I'm also quite a fan of the time travel genre. I naturally assumed this would be a fantastic combination, however I was somewhat disappointed with "Timeline". Although it was an enjoyable read, it seemed way off Crichton's usual writing style, and I had a hard time associating Crichton with actually having written this novel. It's good for checking out of the library, but I wouldn't add it to my personal collection. I agree with a earlier reviewer who said it seemed like it was written with movie motives.

Summary: hello
Review: ok...some may find this boring...but to tell you the truth, I didnt. I read the thing in less than a week. however, i am a kid and i think kids are more likely to be interested in the chase/fight sequences than an adult would be...itz also very easy to follow

Summary: What a great read.
Review: What a great read this was. The first 100 or so pages lost me in the world of quantum computers, but once I suspended my hold on reality, and checked into the wonderful world of fantasy and imagination, I was enthralled. Better than Jurasic Park in my opinion, and I hope for a sequel of some kind, I couldn't put this book down. Shame on anyone that found this book to be boring or predictable-it was exciting, and interesting, as well as educational and fun. I hated for it to be over. My "I don't read fiction husband" even found it to hold his attention. A perfect read for the lover of fiction and twists. You never knew what the future, or the past held for the characters. You found yourself in love or hate with each one, and wondering who the "bad guy" was. Way to go Mr Crighton- do it again. And thank you for this one.

Summary: ENTERTAINING, above all
Review: I bought this book with the sole purpose of being entertained lightly, and that is exactly what it achieved. Had I wanted a more extensive review of quantum physics or time travel I would have probably bought a different book, which is what I would recommend to other people looking to getting more of an education. The plot is interesting enough, however just toward the end it gets a bit tiring, I admit. But again, for light reading and entertaining it was exactly right. Also, I thought very highly of AIRFRAME.

Summary: One point nine thumbs down
Review: Having been a fan, I ignored the unfavorable reviews and bought the book - only to discover that this story read like a made for TV script. I constantly tried to suspend disbelief to get through - not possible for me. I kept thinking that some high school kid wrote this story - went back in time - substituted it at the last nanosecond with Mr Crichton's publisher and...oh well, enough time wasted. One point nine thumbs down!
