Rating: Summary: Trips with Mom & Dad really can be fun! Review: The idea of going to NYC with Mom and Dad is not always fun but they bought this book and let me and my sister pick out things we want to do. We never have to worry that it's going to cost too much or not be interesting. There are lots of fun things for us kids and the best part is that there's always money left over to get ice-cream on the way home! It's great being able to help plan the day out.
Rating: Summary: Must have for New Yorkers on a budget Review: This book is the best I've read of its genre. Rob Grader means it when he says something's free, and he gives away the catch where there is one. After reading his book, I have now *seen a Broadway play...for FREE *seen the Knicks at Madison Square Garden...for FREE *found a bar with $3 mixed drinks and free popcorn *furnished my apartment FREE *bought half-price bagels to last a whole week *seen FREE acoustic performances. The one I haven't got yet is the free movie tickets, but that's coming. Oh yes--I've been in New York less than six weeks, living off savings, working as an intern and not getting paid. BUY THIS BOOK! (But if you're really cheap, you'll do what I did and read it at a bookstore first, then buy it used online).
Rating: Summary: D'OH! Review: This is a great guide for finding entertainment on the cheap. Most of these tips are well-known, while some are not. Personally, I found some of the suggested itineraries not very interesting, but hey, maybe someone else may find them useful. This book does not discuss how you can get the really good stuff like free movie tickets to current hollywood films--it offers tips for other types of films--or free tickets to Carnegie Hall, etc. I guess I have to write my own book :^D
Rating: Summary: Excellent ideas! Review: This is a really great collection of ideas. I've looked at several other books with similar themes, but they tend to repeat the same ideas--this one digs a lot deeper and seems extremely well researched. Highly recommended.
