Summary: all the basics
Review: after dreaming about traveling to england for years and years, the opportunity finally came. so, the first thing on my list was that i wanted to make the most of this trip in the time that i had. i bought england for dummies along with the london mapguide by michael middleditch and rick steve's london. england for dummies covered all of the basics in the first half of the book way down to tips on packing, when is the best time to go, how to get around, and how to call back to the states. the second half, however, goes through each section of england (england's heartland, way up north, the southeast, etc.) and in each one of those sections they break it down by the places to go and see. it includes pubs, museums, castles and a paragraph on each place or topic. it is definitely the whole package. i would say it's a must to read before you go, but don't count on taking it with you. there is too much to do and see and you won't have time to put your nose in a book. also, the london mapguide is a must! do yourself a favor and buy it!!! it's very thin with beautiful full-color maps so that...you will actually be able to find way around. i would have felt lost without it! good luck!
