Review: Just returned from a week in Kauai and I have to say that this guide book was the only one I used and needed. Their advice is sound and the text is nicely written - not overly chatty or dry. Use the book in conjunction with their website, for up-to-date changes and accomodation reviews. I like their honesty. Of course no guide book is perfect, and occasionally you have to flip between sections to get all the information on a particular topic, but that small comment aside, this book was excellent help before and during our family vacation.

Review: This book is the best guide book I've ever used. I wish they had editions for places like France and Italy. They tell it like it is, and the web link keeps it updated. Kauai is a great place to vacation, and this book helps you make the most of your trip.

Summary: A Perfect Guide for the Perfect Honeymoon!!
Review: We just returned from our honeymoon and our Ultimate Kaua'i Guidebook helped make it the best vacation imaginable. We began reading the book on the plane over the ocean and found ourselves cracking up over the author's humorous descriptions and suggestions. Our favorite was about the roosters who "are particularly stupid here." Not knowing anything about the island, we decided to try out Doughty's favorite activities, restaurants, adventures, etc. We were NOT disappointed! We ate the best food, found the best tour companies, hiked the best trails! Pretty soon we found that we'd left something important in the hotel room, like a wallet, or a key, but we NEVER forgot the Guidebook! We asked around if anyone knew Doughty or had talked to him, and we were told NUMEROUS times what a genuine person he is and how he'll NEVER take free rides, dinners, etc to give a good rating. He always insists on paying for EVERYTHING in order to get an authentic experience and give a genuine review. We appreciated that and followed his advice to a TEE. We're already planning our next Kaua'i vacation as are our parents (we've already bought them copies of the Ultimate Kauai Guidebook!) And whatever you do in Kauai, do NOT miss the ice-cream on the bottom of the shave ice! haha My husband didn't believe that one, and he was surely disappointed!! :)

Review: I BOUGHT THIS BOOK AND IT WAS MY BIBLE WHILE ON KAUAI, IT WAS SO GREAT FOR ALL THE LOCAL TIPS. A MUST HAVE, EASY TRAVEL SIZE AND GREAT PHOTOS TOO!!! THE ADVICE I TOOK FROM IT NEVER FAILED. A GREAT TRIP BECAUSE OF IT.

Review: I love this guide book! The book is well arranged, has maps that we can actually use to get around and lots of fabulous color photos. I bought three Kauai guide books and this is the best of the lot. The other books refer me to the telephone book for maps while this book actually prints them. They describe the locations, restaurants and accommodations as if they were speaking to a friend. When we used the Maui guidebook by these same authors, we found their information to be right on.

Review: I recommend this book to ANYONE interested in just relaxing and enjoying their trip and leaving the worries to the book. Just follow their recommendations and you won't be disappointed! We used the Kauai book on our honeymoon and the Big Island book this past year and LOVED them. We took the book with us everywhere. Everything they recommended was right on. They do all the research on each restaurant, hotel, activity company, and YOU reap the rewards of their experience. I've given copies of these books to friends going to Maui, Kauai, and Hawaii and have yet to hear one unsatisfied customer. Fun to read, informative, and easy to use. Great maps with mile markers (only way to do it in Hawaii since directions can be tricky). Only wish the Oahu book was out already.

Review: We used this book (in it's first printing)for our first trip to Kauai, and have just returned from our second visit accompanied by the new edition. If you have a taste for travel that is beyond the 'canned' version (but not too far!) this is your guidebook!

Review: Because this book was one of those featured by Amazon we bought it along with the Revealed for Maui. Both were bitter disappointments mostly because the text is mostly opinion and orientating to where you are when you're reading it is very confusing. The authors are very amusing with opinions about this and that but all that falls short when you're wanting to find out where to go. We wasted alot of time.

I gave it two stars because my children enjoyed the photos.

Summary: a must have for first time visitors
Review: this book was indespensable while on our recent trip. all of the reviews were right on the money. we took it everywhere. the maps of the hiking trails were more useful than those from the park service. the reviews of the helicopter and boating companies was more helpful than those from the concierge at our hotel and more accurate. my only regret is that too many epople know about the book and the "secret" places aren't a secret anymore.
