Summary: The Kauai Bible
Review: This updated version is really great. We took it along on our 4th trip to Kauai and, with the authors' guidance, found some places off the beaten path. Our favorite excursion was Kipu Falls. The authors warn that you must cross private property and we've heard from locals that the property owner means it when he says "no trespassing". We were glad we risked it. The falls were among the most spectacular and fun on the island. The kids swang from the rope swing into the lake at the base of the falls. Very awesome!! The evaluations of restaurants and attractions are right on the money. We learned not to go to places which were panned by the book. Don't go to Kauai without this book!

Summary: This book is TOO good.
Review: The book is indispensible for a trip to Kauai. You'll use it every step of the way and refer to it again and again. You'll even read it just for fun. This book is so good, that EVERY tourist had it which means that every "gem" was packed with families with their copy of the book in hand. Kauai is now crowded and you'd be hard pressed to find a beach "all to yourself" as they say in the book. The book is great, too bad Kauai's charm is spoiled by the thousands of people that have it too.

Summary: Honeymoon in Paradise
Review: All I can say is.....WOW! Base on the recomendations in this book, our hawaiian experince was a fulfillment of an ultimate fantasy.Not only did we visit some places that many locals have never heard of, but based on the easy to follow ratings, we were able to plan our trip with a minimal waste of time. We found their recomendations from the beaches, to the hotels, to the hikes to be extermely reliable. We also took the time to visit thei website and learned of a few updates since presstime. I must have purchased 4 guidebooks before our trip and I can say without hesitation, that this one would have been the only purchase had I gotten it first.

Summary: THE best Kauai guidebook
Review: This book made a difference between an okay trip and a fabulous trip! On our second trip to Kauai we purchased and used this book's recommendations on everything from restaurants to best snorkeling spots, best beaches, etc. He is not paid by retailers, so his reviews are really his own. He uses a diamond to highlight the "best of the best". We found out-of-the-way beaches that all had a different character. If you like fresh fish and enjoy dining out, follow his recommendations to the best meals you have ever eaten in your life! This is the book to buy when going to Hawaii. We also used his Big Island book and are awaiting his Maui book.

Summary: Excellent, Accurate, Informative
Review: As another reviewer stated, I wish I had purchased this book prior to my first visit to Kauai. We have just returned from our second visit with a dog-eared, water-spotted copy of this very informative book. We took it everywhere with us. Without it we would not have found the beautiful and totally secluded (my husband and I had the entire cove to ourselves) Sealodge Beach. We snorkeled with Green Sea Turtles at Tunnels Beach and stuffed ourselves at Keiko's Paradise, thoroughly enjoying the ambiance and delicious food. One note, Tomkats Grill was a bit of a let down but that was the only item that this book was not 100% on-target. This guide definately enhanced our enjoyment of a wonderful week in Kauai.

Summary: If you only buy one Kauai guidebook, make it this one!
Review: We just completed our first family trip (my second) to Kauai, and this book made our trip much more memorable. (We rented a condo above Hideaways Beach on the North shore -- we came to prefer that side of the island). The content, writing style, and organization of this book are excellent. The book was particularly appropriate for first timers like us (the primary audience of such books, after all). We also bought the Horowitz book, but it stayed in the condo while we carried this one to marvelous places like Ke'e Beach (spent hours with four large sea turtles), Polihale, Queen's Bath, Koke'e State Park, the Kalalau Trail, and Kipu Falls. We're looking forward to our next trip when we can explore the other 90% of the island...for updates since the last edition.

Summary: The BEST guidebook for the island of Kauai
Review: As a veteran traveller to (I go back every chance I get) and hiker of the island, I can say unequivocally that this is the best guidebook (and assuredly the funniest) for the island I've found. How would I have ever known to stop at JoJo's for shave ice after hiking in the canyon all day? The reggae is the perfect touch of whimsy... There are so many finds in this book, and their book on the Big Island is equally wonderful. They capture the flavor of the island, and all its myriad delights. For those who like to explore, including off the beaten path, this is the book you want!

Review: This is the only book you need for a trip to Kauai. The authors give you the best hikes, restaurants, attractions and places to stay. We had a great trip thanks to this book.

Review: As in not heavy to carry around. I too wore out my copy. It makes a great gift for honeymooning couples. And although the choice of fonts and layout makes it look amateurish on first glance, it is a meaty, well researched book.

Review: My husband and I brought 4 Kauai guidebooks with us, and this is the ONLY ONE we ever used. It is pleasant and sometimes even very amusing to read, exceedingly easy to use, and provides truly helpful and honest information. We used this book to guide us through our vacation and had a blast. BUY THIS BOOK (and, most importantly, visit Kauai)! :)
