Summary: Superb Guidebook
Review: I just got off the plane last night from a week in Oahu. We found this book on the coffee table in the house we rented on Lanikai Beach and it was our constant companion in our explorations of this stunning Island. I've been all over the world, used a lot of guidebooks, and this is the most beautiful one I've ever come across in terms of pictorial content, maps, and graphics. Even if you never go to Oahu, this makes a lovely coffee table book. Anyone contemplating a visit should take a look at the book, it will firm up their resolve to get over to Hawaii!

Summary: My bible in Oahu
Review: I purchased this great book by Ricahrd Sullivan, and it made my time in Oahu wonderfully memorable. I continue to recommend this book to EVERYONE one of my friends that is traveling to Oahu. Mahalo Richard!

Summary: Excellent!
Review: I was born and raised on Oahu. Had to move to California for work. On a recent trip home, I discovered this book. It updated me on how to find everything and a few places I didn't even know exisited. I outlined the best ways to get there too. It is an excellent resource to tour the islands and a wonderful keepsake reminder of where I came from

Summary: Truly Outstanding
Review: I'd always dreamed about living in Hawaii and now I do. I credit this guide for starting the process. When I went for the first time in January I had no idea there would be so many "drop-dead-beautiful" areas other than Waikiki. Driving and Discovering opened up a whole new world for me. It's a guidebook and a necessity for driving around. A dream and drool book.

I leave it out on my coffee table for guests to enjoy. It's worth every penny and I rate it definitely outstanding in every category.

Summary: This book is the perfect get around guide to Oahu
Review: If you are going to go to Oahu, there are two things you must have... a rental car and this book. Honolulu is is crowded and congested. Walk the strip of Waikiki, make the International Market Place the first place you stop on your trip (get your Aloha atire) and last things you do on your trip, (get your souviners) and then spend the rest of your trip outside of Honolulu. (Of course, if you like hookers and drugdealers, spend your nights in Chinatown.)
This book is structured very well. You can seach this book by beaches, shore lines, trails, waterfalls, or uninhabitted islands. Almost anything that is worth seeing, is in this book.
The Lonely Planet has an Oahu book that is a great conterpart to this one. Pick up both of these books, and you will be ready for your trip!

Summary: You must read this if you are going to visit Oahu!
Review: If you visit Oahu and do not read this book prior to doing so, you will have failed to truly see the best of the island. This guide will take you places that you will never get to using other guides. Amazing pictures and very detailed guides to get you around on foot and by car. I do recommend another guide such as Fodors to get you hotel and restaurant information.

Summary: The best book I've seen about Oahu.
Review: In researching travel books about the island of Oahu for an upcoming vacation, I found this publication to be outstanding. I checked out several titles from the public libraries, tried to plan a one week itinerary, and found myself confused and unsure of what we would be doing until I picked up Driving & Discovering Oahu by Richard Sullivan. It was just what I needed! He divides the island into manageable sections, includes pertinent maps, bus info, and sightseeing musts, all amidst breathtaking photographs. This is a real gem!

Summary: The only guide you need!
Review: My husband and I had previously visited Oahu with our parents and done the usual Waikiki Beach/Pearl Harbor routine that all tourists seem to do. Our decision to go back to Oahu for our honeymoon was based entirely on this fantastic book. It showed us how much we had missed on our previous trips. Instead of spending a week on crowded Waikiki Beach, we spent our time on beautiful remote beaches or hiking through the jungle to a waterfall. This book has info that no other guide has. Every location has color pictures and a detailed map on how to get there. This book made our trip to Oahu our best vacation ever. Don't bother buying any other guide.
