Review: My husband thought I was overanalyzing as I planned for the trip. I bought about 8 guides. Frommers was good. However, this one is great. These people do this for a living and don't get free perks or special treatment from the vendors. They go anonymously so they will get an accurate. They were very accurate, not soft padding anything. If they didn't like it, they were very honest about it. The book is well written and humorous. To those going to Maui, I would say, buy this book and bring it with you. You'll be in on a lot of locals secrets and ways to see Maui with some peace and privacy possible. Before you go, makesure to check out their website that only readers can use. It gives the lay-outs on the condos, hotels, etc. ItA person could easily end up paying too much and not getting something they can enjoy if they do not get good accommodatiopns, so make sure to take advantage of this. This book will save you timem, money, and headaches. Your trip will flow so much smooother. There are a fedw things I think they should do with their next book, whihc hopefully get out soon. A lot of the restaurants we wre trying to find in Kihuili were out of business. I really think the restaurant crtiques help, as we hate throwing our heardearned money out for expensive, meal with poor service and foods. The relaxation factor can lost over things like that! You will want to take this to Hana. You'll get a slew of secret hints that just are not available elsewghere. My suggestion is for them to add a brief summary, by milepost marker, so that it is easy to follow as you are trying to help people make a decision on an activity and then find out the hows and wheres of doing it. I wasn't as crazy over the Warren & Anne\abelle thing when I went down there. Most people were, and I think I have a different sense of humor. However, please don't let my small suggestionms from detering you to read this book. If yoy are going to Maui, you REALLY NEED THIS BOOK!

Summary: Best Tourist Guide Ever Written
Review: My wife and I just returned from our honeymoon in Maui where we used this book religiously every day. We found the reviews and ratings in this book to be right on. Warren and Annabelle's magic show was awesome as described; the driving tips for Hana (e.g., leave early) were very helpful; and the olivine pools were spectacular. If you are planning a trip to Maui, this book should be a requirement. The book saved us lots of money by steering us away from overpriced restaurants, boring activities, and other tourist traps. My only regret is that my wife and I could only partake in a small fraction of the wonderful things that Maui has to offer. Some things the book doesn't describe that should be included in a second addition are the Saturday morning Kahului Swap Meet (great t-shirt prices and cheap fruit); the Oct. 31 Halloween celebration in Lahaina (20,000 crazy Hawaiians and tourists walking Front Street); and a tour of Ono Plantation (outside Hana) where you can sample exotic fruit that you've never even heard of before.

Summary: An excellent , well written book.
Review: This is a very well written and referenced book. It is easy to read and the author talks to you as though you are one of his friends. It is humorous and contains candid opinions about the various beaches, restaurants, and accommodations. The authors live there so their reports are given from first hand experience. The book contains many colored pictures and maps of the whole island. The authors also include their e-mail address so you can request updated info. If you were to buy only one travel book on Maui this should be it.

Summary: Great Pictures!
Review: There's a lot great about this book, but the cover tells it best -- real pictures! This is like a big magazine with terrific stories & real pictures. It even has real photos of the condos! Of all the books I bought for my last Maui trip, this was the best one. The only thing I disagree with is his unfair adult rating of the Sugar Cane Train -- the author obviously doesn't have kids!! Any family with a train lover will find this a must see -- again, and again, and again...

Review: We just spent 12 days in Maui with this book and it helped us out immensely. We found hidden pools and waterfalls that we were the only ones there. This book is a must if you are going to Maui!!

Review: This is a decent book. I used this book during my honeymoon on Maui. We mainly stayed in Hana (10 days; great town) and used the book to find secret beaches. We also used the book when we stayed in West Maui (Kanapali beach for 3 days). The Hana section needs a little updating.

Review: Just returned from Maui; had read 6-7 Maui guides and this was the only one we used. Except for the Vancouver reviewer, the comments of reviewers above are apt. Particularly good if you're up to some of the adventures they suggest, but don't undertake the waterfall expedition unless you're prepared to cross extremely slippery rocks!

Review: My wife and I just got back from a 10-day trip to Maui. We relied heavily on the book for restaurant recommendations, snorkeling locations, shows, tour guide operators. We had a great time and will definitely be coming back. The book NEVER steered us wrong and helped us find some hidden gems we never would have found on our own. One of the book's strengths is helping you find the exact location where something is (seaweed on the beach here; good beach just a short hop away, etc...)

Review: We went to Maui armed with 5 guidebooks, and this is the one we used almost exclusively. The writing is laced with a refreshing sense of humor. We stayed with locals for 3 weeks, and there was lots of stuff in this book that even the locals didn't know about. I have a large library of travel/guide books, and this is amoung the best.

Review: I'm one of the fortunate ones to actually live here on the islands, and when I visited Maui for a few days last year I bought this book and was amazed at how helpful it was. Along the paths to the 'Hidden Gems', The only people I ran into were people who had also purchased this book. The maps, best bets, and educational content make this a great buy.
