Summary: An excellent guide
Review: I'm buying my third edition of this book so I obviously have found it to be helpful. There is a lot of detail about all aspects of visiting WDW neatly categorized so you can refer to sections of specific interest. It was especially helpful for our first trip when we had no idea what to expect. I did find the author to be somewhat negative and more critical about food (really not bad), cost (not as expensive as he led me to believe), transportation (overall reliable and timely) and waiting lines (it's really not necessary to race around the park as if on a commando mission). I still would highly recommend this book to anyone considering a trip to WDW.

Summary: a must-have for any WDW trip
Review: There are a lot of published guides to Walt Disney World. If you are a WDW repeat customer or a novice going for the first time, do yourself a big favor and GET THIS BOOK. We have been to WDW 3 times, and I always buy the newest version of the book before we go. Even though it is a long book, each page contains valuable information that an WDW traveler must know. You will save time, money, and immense frustration if you follow this books touring plans and hotel, restaurant, and ride recommendations. I have written to the Unofficial Guide, as they suggest at the end of the book, with some of my observations, and some of them have been included in the latest edition of the book. Very cool to have a travel guide that actually publishes observations from real people! Get this book before you make reservations or purchase a ticket--this is a MUST HAVE!!

Summary: Don't be caught without one!
Review: This book is great for the family who wants to do it all! We saved time and money. I buy an updated copy every so many years but honestly it probably isn't necessary. The book changes very little from year to year. The book details out a "perfect" day (what to see at the parks and most importantly when to see it!) and even comes with a removeable daily recommended schedule to follow. If you prefer a carefree stroll at the park this book is not for you. The reader who will benefit is the one who is passionate about getting there early in the day and sometimes sprinting from ride to ride. There are money saving ideas too - but mostly no brainers. If you fit the bill...GET THE BOOK!

Summary: The last word in Walt Disney World planning
Review: The unoffical series for Walt Disney World is without question the very best out there. It has more detail and useful advice than any two other guides combined. If you are looking for color photographs, get a different book. If you want the inside scoop on how to make it one a WDW vaction, get this. Additionally, this is the most improved edition of this guide in a decade. They have added tons of new information. For example, they have considerably increased the amount of info concerning the disney hotels. By the way, I have been to WDW ten times, and very one of them was a complete success becuase of unoffical WDW books. In fact, I collect the guides. Given my "credentials", you can really appericate the gravity of my review. Do yourself a huge favor; buy this book. One last thing, it is rather lengthy and the information must really be "learned" to be useful. Skimming the text on the fligth to Floridia is NOT a realistic option.

Summary: Bob knows his stuff!!!
Review: This book saved my family of 5 several hundred dollars. I have highlighted several passages that will help us when we are in the Magic Kingdom. I highly reccommend this book to anyone planning a WDW vacation.

Review: ~ ~ * * * * * ~ ~
~ ~ When we were planning to take the kids, ages 6 and 7 to Disney World in 1998, a doctor friend told me it was absolutely essential to get this guide. We got the 1998 version, and he was absolutely right!
We're going this year and I had the 2003 guide already bookmarked and ready, before I even made airline reservations.

~ ~ This guide is packed with helpful advice on getting the most enjoyment from your trip to Disney world. From advice on the least busy time to go (first 2 weeks in December), to how to avoid long lines (go to "Space Mountain" in early A.M., everyone else is "building up to it")

~ ~ Reviews of rides were a great help in deciding whether to bring the kids on, especially as the 7 year old was tall enough to go on any, but we didn't want to terrify her. This writer spells out both the facts, and his opinion, and gives you plenty of information to make your own decisions. I found myself definitely agreeing with his ratings.

~ ~To Save yourself time, aggravation, and if you have kids, even tears, I absolutely say this book is a "must have" for anyone planning to visit Disney World.
This year, I also purchased the author's "Outside Disney" guide to Busch Gardens, Sea World, Universal, and am already planning to follow his advice there too.
I've rarely had such a small investment turn out so incredibly helpful.
A definite 5 stars *****!

Summary: Excellent and practical guide
Review: I find this guide helpful and more unbiased than the Birnbaum guide (though I enjoyed that too). It is very thorough. On the other hand, the thoroughness makes it daunting -- there is just so much to read, that sometimes I wonder if it's worth spending so much time to save a few hours. I recommend that you just skim it looking for the "can't miss" attractions and the duds, and don't get obsessed with trying to cover every detail.

Summary: Bob Sehlinger knows WDW
Review: While I haven't read this edition of the Unofficial Guide, I have purchased and read each of the last three versions and can't wait to read the latest release. The bottom line is that Bob Sehlinger really knows WDW and gives you a realistic description of the parks. Going to WDW is a stressful, expensive, fun and interesting experience. But WDW will eat the unprepared alive. As you enter the park, you see countless families examining the days list of events trying to decide what to do. For those of us that have pre-planned, it's like having money in the bank. I have said to friends and family that scoff about pre-planning the day, when you are standing on Main Street in MK doing your planning, take a look at the backs of all those people streaming by you because you see those same backs ahead of you in line all day.

This series gives you excellent ride assesments and touring strategies that are easily adaptable to your desires. To the people that say that planning takes the spontaneity out of the day, I say that doing the rides/attractions is the fun part. I feel plenty spontaneous when I am back at the pool in the afternoon with the kids and most people are still standing in line.

I might also add that Mr. Sehlinger answered a question I sent to him that WDW information was unable to answer after several tries.

These books are funny and the reader comments are great. I've tried other guides and they just don't have the edge to them that this series does.
