Summary: Have something against DisneyWorld? This book is for you.
Review: After reading this book, I felt like I needed a Prozac or maybe I should just cancel my trip all together. While the information in the book regarding the facilities and the like is standard, the outlook of the book strikes the reader as though you are bound to find something that will really irk you when you get to the Disney parks.

You are confronted almost immediately with a rash of complaints from readers. There is the Florida senior citizen who, apparently, went all the way to Orlando to specifically see Cindarella's Castle only to find that it had been converted into a big birthday cake for DisneyWorld's 25th Anniversary, which supposedly cause her great distress and, apparently, ruined her vacation.

And so goes the tone of the book. After reading this book, one wonders why anyone would want to go to DisneyWorld. It's too expensive. It's too crowded. And, at least from one reader, those nasty Brazillians were allowed to roam freely amongst the American guests. (How dare they!?!) The only complaint missing was that several Disney characters shedded their costumes to reveal that they were giant cockroaches.

Thank goodness I didn't take this missive to heart, but threw caution to the wind and headed for Orlando. What a great vacation I had. The Disney folks know how to put on a great show. Yes, it was expensive. Yes, there were lines. Yes, I ran into some Brazillians. So what? It was still a great vacation in spite of this book.

I strongly suggest you avoid the "Unofficial Guide" and peruse other books on DisneyWorld. At least you will enter the "Happiest Place on Earth" in a much better mood than after reading this downer. But if you must read this book, take the Prozac instead of cancelling your vacation.

Summary: This book is a not to be missed overview of The World.
Review: Anything and everything on WDW Property is far better understood and appreciated after thoroughly reading The Unofficial Guide of WDW. I purchased my first book many years ago and have been purchasing the new version every single year. I pass the old copies onto friends or relatives who need to expand their knowledge or comprehension of the area. As Property expands its parameters, Bob is right there to include every single applicable aspect of any given attraction, food service, hotel or club. I heartily recommend this book, as well as the Unofficial Pocket version that should be kept handy whenever visiting or staying on Property

Summary: A book that will change your trip to Disney World forever!!
Review: Some very valuable information brought to you in a clear, concise, and humorus manner.
I loved the book and give it very high marks! I would rate it a 10 but the author tends to bash the disney folks a little more than is useful.
If your going to Disney World, BUY THIS BOOK! It changed my Disney vacation forever!

Summary: Buy It, Buy It, Buy It!
Review: My husband and I just came back from Disney World last weekend, and this book was invaluable. We actually wound up carrying it to all three parks (MGM, Epcot, Magic Kingdom) every day. We tried a few of the strategies in the book, and we avoided lines, enjoyed the best attractions, and generally had a better time because of it. (The best tip: the "Splash Mountain" section. We had NO wait in the morning, while the afternoon line was in excess of 2 hours!) We did miss a few important tips by reading as we went along, though. A word to the wise: read as much as you can before you vacation. And say hi to Mickey!

Summary: How the Unofficial Guide To Walt Disney World Is Revised
Review: Thanks to all of you for your comments about the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World. We listen and pay attention.

Each year during our revision research, we check every theme park, attraction, hotel, and restaurant. While there are many changes (most attributable to Disney World's exponential growth), much remains the same. When we profile and critique an attraction, we try to provide the reader with the most insightful, relevant, and useful information, written in the clearest possible language. With apologies to our annual readers, however, it is our opinion that if an attraction does not change, then it makes little sense to risk clarity and content for the sake of freshening up the prose. WDW guests who try the Mad Tea Party, the Haunted Mansion, or the Country Bear Jamboree today, for example, experience exactly the same presentation as guests who visited Disney World in 1997, 1990, or 1986. Moreover, according to our extensive patron surveys, today's guests respond to these attractions in the same way as prior year patrons.

The bottom line is this: we believe that our readers are better served if we devote our time to that which is changing and new as opposed to that which remains the same. Our objective in the final analysis is to help you have the best possible Disney vacation, and every change to the guide we make (or don't make) is evaluated in that context.

Best wishes,

Bob Sehlinger

Summary: This 700+ page book may be the Bible of Disney Tour Books!
Review: Sehlinger's book has two major faults: 1)740+ pages and 2)Poorly updated information. However, this book has to be the Bible of all Orlando based visitors. The lodging ratings are great for non-disney visitors as well.

The unofficial guide is just that. It makes fun at the many unique things that make Disney....Disney! This book gives you very detailed attack plans for each of the theme parks at Walt Disney World. If you want to save time or money, get a copy of this massive book!

Summary: the best guide affailable, if u are FIRSTTIMER
Review: We went to WDW from a place far and away (took 40 hrs plane including the 4 transits!), and find the GUIDE to be very helpful. We would like to see more comparison on the RESORT HOTELS and SOME SPECIFIC POINTS for foreigner... ALL IN ALL this is very helpful GUIDE and WE ALL LOVE IT.

Summary: Not much new
Review: If you haven't purchased any of the prior years' books of the same title, this book is great. It is the Bible for all Orlando-bound travelers. We go to Disneyworld every other year and I waited until Nov. to get the 1998 version. Unfortunately, I see the exact same comments and ratings for rides and restaurants as in the 1995 version. It seems that the only new information is the description of the new attractions. It would have been nice to have the 1998 version written based upon evaluations of the last 3 years and not the early 90's (because a lot has changed).
