Summary: INFORMATION IS NOT CURRENT
Review: I was disappointed to discover that some of the critical informaion in this book was not current.

We are going to Disney World for our daughter's 4th Birthday. The one thing she wanted to do most was Breakfast at Cinderella's Table. I've studied this guide for 3 months and had carefully counted the 60 days prior to the date of the breakfast. Today I called at exactly 7 AM and got right through only to find out that the reservations are 90 DAYS IN ADVANCE!!
Of course there is nothing available during our entire 10 day stay.

I would recommend calling disney directly for information insted of relying on this book!

Summary: Read it! The success of your trip depends upon it!!
Review: Someone tipped me off to this book and I owe them a bundle! I'm a single mom on a tight budget... we could only afford 3 days at Disney so I read this cover to cover, mapped things out like they suggest, made a plan, and CONQUERED the two parks we wanted in 3 days. Thanks to this we did not waste a minute of precious time, and spent nothing we weren't prepared for in advance! It is large, yes, but take the time to read it... sooo worth it. Get it, read it, maximize your fun!

Summary: Must Have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: This will be the third time in 10 years I have bought this book (rev.). You don't go to Disney without this book unless you enjoy long lines and wasted time in the hot sun. This book is everything it advertises and more. I won't bore you with the whole story, but I will say my family were non believers but by the end of day 2 they were worshipping the book. I can't give high enough recommendations for this book but I would pay alot more than I payed. Get it or regret it.

Summary: A Great Guide for Disney Visitors
Review: We used this book and were amazed at its usefulness. The authors rate everything, from restaurants to hotels to rides and attractions. Especially helpful are touring plans which saved us many hours in line, and the information about how scary attractions are. I would never go to Disney without this book and have recommended to others. Skip the "official" Disney stuff and use this one; it's all you'll need.

Summary: Got a question? Answer's here.
Review: Last visit, thanks to this book, I saved $850.00 on my hotel!!!!!!!!

If you're reasonably smart, you should buy this book. If you're a hippie-type, free-spirited, I-don't-care-about-standing-in-long-lines, just-no-PLANS-man, don't. I've bought every guidebook there is for WDW, and I know.

The book is funny, down-to-earth, and it WILL answer your questions.

How can I avoid standing in long lines?

Should I rent a car?

From which spot should I view the show?

How can you prevent (or fix) a blister?

Which park should we do first?

Where's a good place to shop?

What do they do when someone throws up on a ride?

Is it good? Is it scary? Is it stupid? Is it worth it?

Will it mess up my hair?

Is it bumpy, or jerky?

How long will it take me to get from ______ to ______?

Where can I get an aspirin?

How's the food?

Etc, etc, etc.

The book has 798 informative pages that answer EVERY question you could have. There'll be stuff you don't need, because - again, he covers EVERYTHING. He even gives the average rating for EACH ride or show -- not just one average. Six different ratings, from the viewpoints of:

Pre-schoolers
Grade schoolers
Teens
Young Adults
Over 30's
Seniors

And he answers questions you didn't know you should ask. Like the whole convoluted deal with FASTPASS, how it isn't so simple, and when you should use it.

I wouldn't go to DisneyWorld without it. I buy a new one everytime I go, for updated info! If you want one more, get the Birnbaum book, it has lots of color, and cute Disney pictures for the kids (and you, too!). It just doesn't give you the real deal.

Don't bother with anything else. Unless you are one of those people who are so organized that others make fun of you, but you keep organizing, because it makes you feel better, and because you know that the organized are always better off than the scramblers and questioners (takes one to know one). Then buy the dumb Passporter, if you must. But, again, you don't need to.

Summary: Typo
Review: On page 163 of "The Unofficial Guide To Walt Disney World 2004," Bob Sehlinger mistakenly states that Alice Cooper "bites off the heads of bats." However, it was Ozzie Osbourne, from the rock band "Black Sabbath," who did that. Alice Cooper was the one who cut off the heads of humans, (usually his own) using a a trick guillotine on stage during his concerts.

Summary: AWESOME MONEY SAVER
Review: A MUST READ if you are planning a trip to Disney World in the near future. After reading the book and consulting the web sites recommended, I was able to reserve at room at the Animal Kingdom Lodge at a savings of $100 PER NIGHT!

Summary: Dr. Michael L. Johnson
Review: Our family has visited WDW every year for the past 20 and this is the ONLY guide that I have ever used. If you want to save time and money......get it and read it on the plane to Orlando.

Dr. Michael L. Johnson author of "What Do You Do When the Medications Don't Work--A Non-Drug Treatment of Dizziness, Migraine Headaches, Fibromyalgia, and Other Chronic Conditions".

Summary: DON'T go without this book!
Review: I've travelled to Walt Disney World twice, and can't imagine what my trips would have been like had I not read this book first. Be sure you pick up a copy as soon as you start planning, because there's so many tips in there that can save you hundreds of dollars and so much time, you'd end up backtracking without it. Everything from the best way to get to the parks, hidden seats for the nightime fireworks, and how to actually get to act in the shows, and it ALL WORKS. With this book, in my first trip I had front row seats to every parade and firework show fifteen minutes before it started, got to ride with the conductor on the Monorail, acted in the Indiana Jones show, and got to my hotel four hours before my friend, who took Meers Motor Shuttle, without renting a car and only spending $5 more.

This book will give you the real skinny on staying in and out of the parks, where to eat, how to save money, and how to make the ultimate most out of your trip. Even if you go often, make sure you pick up a copy each time you go, because a lot of things change each year. I'm working on planning my third trip right now, and already this years edition has saved me a ton.

If there was anything negative to say about the book, it would only be one thing . . . I think they are too harsh on their restaurant ratings. Read their very extensive reviews with a bit of a grain of salt . . . if they give it anything over an 80, the food will be phenominal. 60-80 would still be pretty darn good.

Remember the best thing about this book is that it's readers who send in several of the tips, which they then test out. This book is not reviewed or sanctioned by Disney, so you don't get the corporate slant that the "other" major tour guide gives you. Go with this one. It's probably the best money you'll spend on your whole trip.

Summary: The Best Available and Not Too Expensive
Review: There seems to be two books to buy, i.e.: this book or the Frommer's Walt Disney World and Orlando. Both are similar although technically speaking the Frommer book covers more things outside the park. But in general I find the Frommer book a bit flat since it has few photos so it is hard to get excited and get the ambiance from that guide. In any case buying a good guide in advance is a great idea to save money, time, and shoe leather and to make certain you see what you want and have no regrets later.

I think the present Book - the Unofficial Guide is better. This book give a better presentation including better maps and more photos and more things to do. This book is just a better all round book, better organized, more comprehensive, and conveys more information on the park. If you buy the current 2004 version all the information should be current. The book is big 800 pages long so read before you go. It should help to plan the trip and it is small enough to fit into a nice hand bag.

Have fun.
