Summary: The author's biases are way too evident.
Review: Although this book has excellent maps and good basic information, I found his constant insertion of his own opinions (usually negative) to be a real distraction. Especially when it comes to the food. My family has been to Disney World six times and while I'll be the first to admit this isn't gourmet it's nowhere near as bad as Sehlinger implies. The general idea in the book seems to be that the Disney people are out to shaft you and you must remain constantly vigilent to keep from being ripped off. Hardly the attitude I want to take with me on vacation.

Summary: Oh well
Review: Just returned from a trip to Disney after having purchased the book. I have to say I was really disappointed with the book and the hints. The helpful sections were the ones dedicated to understanding how traffic flow is set up at the parks so you can plan a park strategy and the other helpful section was the one dedicated to sites around Disney (Sea World, etc). In their effort to be independent, the authors tend to be overly negative on everything. The book did have excellent maps however and the sections on how to fit in the most popular rides with a short wait were on target.

Summary: Excellent reference, take it with a grain of salt
Review: This is a great book, we used it for our two recent trips to Disney and most of what was written turned out to be true. Now we are planning another trip in 2000 with our 1 year old and friends and their kids, and we're sending them a copy of this book (they've never been). We've been reading the section about traveling with kids and know now already which attractions to avoid and which ones to head to; based on honest advice that you won't find in any "official" guide.

However, you do have to keep in mind that this is someone's opinion and not necessarily fact (but it is the opinion of someone who has traveled to Disney World far more times than the average American). They print actual reader comments, usually pitting contrasting comments side by side, as a reminder that their advice is just that, advice and not fact. We went to a few attractions despite the written reviews, i.e. Alien Encounter, and found the reviews to be accurate insofar as the experience, however, our opinion of how good or not-so-good the attraction was differed from what was written.

A good reference, highly recommended.

Summary: Makes WDW easier to conquer!
Review: After having used the "Unofficial" Guide to Disneyland, I purchased the guide for WDW and again, was thrilled with the information provided in this book! It is quite long, but 90% of it is very useful. Best of all, it gave my family a chance to review what we wanted to visit prior to our actual visit. What a timesaver! Must read for anyone going to WDW (and the same is true of the guide for Disneyland!)

Summary: Way too complete! The only book you'll need!
Review: Unless you want pretty pictures (in which case you'll have to settle for Birnbaum's guide), this is the only guidebook you'll need for your trip to Walt Disney World. For everyone from the novice to Disney-expert, this book covers everything from saving money, to detailed hotel desciptions (not just the Disney hotels, but HUNDREDS of off-site ones), detailed ride descriptions, and restaurant reviews. An encyclopedia of Disney World, it even includes plans to get the most out of your short stay. Sehlinger and company tell it like it is: where to spend money and which places are a waste of time. Buy this book!

Summary: M.K.C. from Wilmington, IL
Review: This book is a must for the person who is serious about making every minute count on your vacation to WDW. I buy his new book every year, and I'm never disappointed. I have tried other books, too, but never get the brutaly honest feedback that I get from Sehlinger. His info is updated two to three times a year! Although some people find his vacation plans hectic and tiresome, we find them to be an excellent guideline. (And yes, his food ratings in WDW are right on the money! ) Keep up the good work Mr. Sehlinger!

Summary: Not helpful
Review: I was disappointed with the book. You can find a lot of the information on the web at places like the unofficial Disney homepage, etc. There's a whole lot of subjectivity built into the writing and there's not much to offer in terms of real nuggets. The dining section was the best and most helpful.

Summary: All the details you need
Review: This book can answer ANY little question you have about your trip to Disney. It has great advice for conquering the parks: what not to miss and what not to bother with. We now thoroughly believe their slogan: Go early, go late, or be prepared to wait. A must for your trip!

Summary: The Best Guide ever-up to Date!
Review: This book gives unbleveable up to date information that can make you dine at your favorite restruant, not waste time on stupid rides and best of all, avoid all the crowds!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: This book was a valuable resource.
Review: I used this book in planning my trip to Walt Disney world and I was very glad for all of the tips it provided. I actually found the book to be rather humorous as well. It provides lots of essential phone numbers and information on places to stay, even outside of Disney World. It really helps prepare you for the crowds of people you will encounter at Walt Disney World.
