Summary: Liked it a lot!
Review: It's nice being able to find special places to snorkel, and this book sure helped. We recommend it!

Summary: This book is incomplete, inaccurate and superficial.
Review: Only 40 of the book's 126 pages cover snorkeling sites, and the site reviews are usually half a page or less. Access information is sketchy and incomplete, which is too bad since the most important part of snorkeling the big island is knowing how to get to the sites, which are often poorly marked. One map shows the Mauna Lani Bay resort located adjacent to a famous bay and beach (Anaeho'omalu Bay), when it is actually miles to the north. Also, the authors continually refer to the Ritz Carlton Mauna Lani, when it has been called the Orchid at Mauna Lani for years. Only 22 sites are listed, although the jacket claims 26, which is still a superficial look at the many snorkeling sites. The rest of the "book" is basically a primer for snorkeling generally. This was purchased at the same time as "Hawaii-The Big Island Revealed", which might be the best guide/travel/scuba/snorkeling book available

Summary: Just what we needed. Got us to great snorkeling!
Review: The Big Island was even better than we expected. This guidebook had tons of helpful info, and we wish we could get other guidebooks with so much detailed, accurate information. Can't wait to return and snorkel some more spots.

Summary: Worth every penny--highly recommended!
Review: The Big Island was fantastic snorkeling, better than we expected, and so was this book. Can't wait to go to Maui with their Maui book. This is Hawaii at its best!

Summary: Snorkel Hawaii The Big Island --New Edition
Review: The second edition of this book is great. There are so many snorkeling sites that this book will be a welcome companion for years. In fact, it has already made the Big Island a favorite.

You won't find places like Frog Rock described anywhere else, so you will likely have this fabulous site to yourselves. One can snorkel a different site each day and find them just the way the book describes them. This book helped discover the Big Island in a very special way, and I fully recommend it.

Summary: Detailed, useful, and enjoyable
Review: This book comes through on the most important criterion: It gives useful and specific information on a variety of snorkeling sites and snorkel/dive boat operators. It gives maps, driving directions, and advice on the best way to enter the water at a given site. There is a useful chart that classifies the different snorkel sites as to how good the snorkeling is (water clarity, fish variety) and how easy water entry is. I wouldn't want to snorkel the big island without it. .... If you go to the Big Island equipped with this book, and with "Hawaii: The Big Island Revealed" you will be well-prepared!

Summary: A time-saving little gem of a book. Glad we had it along!
Review: We are avid snorkelers, and visited many of the sites using this book as our guide. It always got us there fast and easy, instead of lost and bewildered as usual. A good choice if you're going to the Big Island!

Summary: Excellent guide
Review: We bought both this book and their other guide, Snorkel Hawaii Maui and Lanai, and snorkeled both islands.

We were impressed by the detailed instructions and very clear maps. My husband gets seasick easily, and the tip on that cured him! Kealakekua Bay is lovely. Highly recommended.

Summary: Good stuff! We loved the places it guided us to.
Review: We got this book along with a general Hawaii guidebook, and compared. For snorkeling, it had far more specific information about any given place, and better maps and directions. We recommend it!
