Summary: We've lived in RVs--and the advice is based on experience.
Review: We're sorry the person from Texas didn't feel our book was a good investment--but we've received so many wonderful comments from other readers (through email)that we're disappointed that one section that was misedited (about the weight concerns)left this person so disgruntled. We know the stuff--but sometimes publishers change things before the authors see them. We're asking them to fix it on the reprint--if we sell enough books to have one (we hope). There's so much more in the book (based on experience and experts) about choosing an RV and living the lifestyle. The important point is to watch the weight limits--and if you need help we'll be glad to answer your questions. Sometimes authors don't see the final edits before a book goes to production--this shouldn't make people think the authors are uninformed. We've never seen a perfect book ourserlves. And if the reader doesn't think the other information is valuable--well, we can only say that many people feel that it is one of the best RV books on the market (even the library association--which knows a lot about books). So, please excuse any minor errors from the publisher and read and enjoy the other 99.9% of the book. We think you'll enjoy it like most of our readers have...and we'd like to know if you agree. And thanks to all of those who have taken the time to write us already. We appreciate your time and enthusiasm. Happy RVing to all. --Kim and Sunny Baker

Summary: Buy a different book....
Review: While there is certainly some useful information in this book, it is obfuscated by the authors' overly cutesy style. The book could have been shorter by two thirds (and would be dramatically improved for being so) by the removal of extraneous and empty prose. In places, however, the information is downright wrong. The authors apparently don't understand the meaning of the acronyms GVWR and GCWR - the two most important numbers in understanding weight management, possibly the most important topic in RVing. Here their advice is nonsensical at best and dangerous at worst. The problem for beginning RVers is knowing whether the recommendations of the writers relating to any particular matter are reliable or not.

It is interesting to note that the most positive reviews of this book come from the least experienced RVers. Experienced RVers perhaps wouldn't take the time to wade through the superfluous verbiage for such small morsels of wisdom.

This book is a sort of Chinese Dinner - it has a lot of calories and very little meat. Pretty soon you're going to be hungry again - for REAL information this time.
