Rating: Summary: For the adventurous Review: This book is more suited to those on a culinary tour of Japan, or those looking to taste the entire culture. I went on a short business trip, and ordinary guidebooks seemed to have enough information for survivial (for me at least). If you're the sort of person who likes to try everything, this book may be for you. For a one week trip, I did not have time to take advantage of all of the information.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: This informative and interesting book actually restored my faith in Japanese food, which had been tested by the George Bush Snr bouche-douche incident. Emulating the former president's surgical strike nearly cost me in credit talks in Tokyo 2 years ago, and, if nothing else, this book will teach you to avoid a bowl of raw whale glans at a business lunch - which makes the $10 pricetag look a steal.
Rating: Summary: Pack for your trip to Japan Review: We wish we had found this book during our first six months of living in Japan when going out to eat was overwhelming if there was no plastic food displayed outside the restaurant. Extrememely helpful and have had many a good laugh with wait staff over trying to find the right page and what we want to order. Makes your stay in Japan more pleasant.
