Rating: Summary: Far more hits than misses Review: At first, the sheer number of recipes in this cookbook will overwhelm you. Then, flipping to the index in the back you will find that you are able to look up dishes based upon their main ingredient (e.g. chicken, zucchini, potatoes). We use this cookbook far more than any other book in the kitchen. Of all the dishes we have made, I can only recall not liking one. It's naturally heavy on breakfast and brunch foods, but it has something to satisfy anyone's tastes - desserts, main courses, appetizers, beverages. The biggest pain with this book is that it is separated by bed and breakfast rather than by kind of dish. This makes it rather time consuming to find a recipe. One has to turn to the index and then go down through the list flipping to various pages to find the "perfect" chicken dish, for example. Separating the recipes out by type would have saved the recipe searcher a fair amount of time. Still, it's a wonderful cookbook. I'm glad we have a copy. WARNING: This cookbook contains absolutely no photos of the food, so those who like seeing what the dish will look like will not enjoy this book.

Rating: Summary: Excellent source for finding forgotten recipes... Review: Have both books - and they are both much used in our kitchen. I have been able to find recipes for dishes others would not share based on ingredients. The index of foods is probably the greatest thing about this book and directly contributes to the usability. Absolutely something for everyone in this book - even holiday recipes. Between the two books, I have noticed a couple of recipes duplicated, but not enough to lessen the value of either. Definitely one to have on the shelf if you enjoy having a broad sampling of American cooking close at hand!

Rating: Summary: It's my 'go to' cookbook of choice! Review: I can't you how many times I've gone to my copy of this cookbook for recipes... it's the one I reach for first! It's like taking a trip around the country without leaving my home! VERY user friendly format, too! I love the small-sized recipes that many of the B&B's and Inns use... hubby and I are 'empty nesters' most of the year with our sons away at college so there's no need to make big meals or we'd be eating leftovers forever.
Rating: Summary: Terrific cookbook for special occasions Review: I really enjoyed this cookbook. It's a great resource for special occasions/entertaining. I have found their baking recipes are excellent. If you loved a particular dish from a B & B, you might just find it here.
Rating: Summary: One cookbook I turn to over and over again Review: I really have enjoyed using and returning to this cookbook time and time again. It is categorized so nicely by state and Inn. The index is so handy when you are searching for a recipe using a certain ingredient or a type of soup for example. I have even gone so far as to use this book to select a place to stay when I may be traveling in a particular place. A great resource in the kitchen and out!
Rating: Summary: Most Useful Cookbook I own! Review: I received this book (vol 1) from my daughter and find it to be the most used book in my collection. I know that the recipes are tried and true , since InnKeepers are expected to put out good tasty food that is made with love. I have counted on this book for last minute planning and I've not been disapointed.
Rating: Summary: One of the most spotted and stained cookbooks on my shelf! Review: I received this cookbook as a gift from my husband when the first edition was published. I liked it so much and used it so often I continue to give it to friends every year. If I am in a quandary as to what to prepare for company, or just looking for several versions of an old classic, this is usually my first and last stop. I especially like it for pastry, cake and breakfast recipes (not surprisingly). When we are travelling, I also use it as a guidebook!
Rating: Summary: This book is great and very resourceful. Review: I use this book much more than I thought I would when I bought it. I found some great recipes to use when having company (or not!) The ingredients are mostly easy to find and the directions are relatively easy. I guess if you get up every morning to run a bed and breakfast you don't have time for fussiness! Highly recommended!
