Summary: A Pleasant Surprise
Review: A Friend gave me this book to read and I thought, oh dear. The first few pages were really a struggle to get through, but I trusted my friend's judgement and so I read on. I'm pleased to say that I was not dissappointed with this book. In fact, I'm so hooked on Jamie and Claire that I must read Drums of Autumn and when I'm done with that, I'll definitely read the first two books that I missed. Bravo!

Summary: A View of the Series from a native Highlander
Review: After reading many other reviews, I thought that I would pitch in with my perspective. I grew up in a small village ninety miles north of Inverness, called Dunbeath. I am of Viking and Canadian blood and have been steeped in the legends of the Jacobites and the Scots all my life. These books are escapism, Yes, but they are also accurate portrayals of Highland life in that period. The legends of stone circles and fairy rings was told to me by my great-grandmother when I was 5 or 6 and I have always felt uneasy near them.

I am another of the lucky ones who has found my "Jamie", but with a little role reversal. I have a very loving husband whom I love more than anything else on Earth. He is the other half of my soul, in the same way that Jamie and Claire are soul-mates so intricately linked that it can be shocking in its intensity. The difference is that I am the red-haired Highlander in a tartan plaid, with Gaelic and the second sight running through my veins. And try as I might I have never been happier than at home in Caithness, a land I have a cast iron link to forever. The Outlander Series captures the love of the land, of the clan, and of blood ties in a way that any other author has struggled to do. I can only congratulate Diana on her talent and pray that it continues. I must say that the books are very well researched and I particulary love the detail in herbal medcine and Gaelic. They remind me of the works of David and Leigh Eddings in the complexity of the story and the way you form such strong emotional ties to the characters. Good luck for the future.

Summary: I am now a fan of historical romance!
Review: I have become obsessed with Claire and Jamie and I have enjoyed every moment! These books are adventure, romance, action and escapism in an incredibly readable mix. I am not a regular reader of romance novels (like never!) and was given Voyager to read on a vacation as I had nothing else to read. On getting 20 pages into the book, I decided to go back and start at the beginning of the series. I was drawn into the language, the time in history, the passion of the characters and the fast pace of the saga from day 1. I literally could not put the books down and can't wait to read Drums of Autumn. I would highly recommend these books to anyone, whether you are a romance fan or not. Believe me, you will become a convert!

Summary: One of the best books I've ever read!
Review: Diana Gabaldon has kept me enthralled with her story. I spent many a late night reading because I could not wait to find out what was going to happen next. She makes the characters so real you come away feeling like you know them personally. Truly a wonderful story.

Summary: Very good! Lots of action! Inspiring relationships.
Review: I would just love to meet Jamie Fraser! I think his personality is wonderful - you can truly feel the love and devotion he has towards Claire and others. I'm envious of Jamie and Claire's relationship - how wonderful!

Summary: From the Heart
Review: Outlander,Drangonfly in Amber,Voyager, and Drums of Autumn ... well what can be said Diana Gabaldon has captured the heart of the reader by doing something so simple, by putting some heat into the books. You can tell the time and effort she has given to the writing of these books has paid off. They are all touching, heart warming, and real. They capture the true raw emotions of the reader and steal the reader's heart and soul. She makes us feel what the charactors are feeling. Any woman who has read one (if not all) of the novels will tell you that Jamie is her ideal man. Gabaldon makes him real, so strong yet so needy of Clair's love. I know many women that either have found (like me) or are looking for their "Jamie". This is not your traditional romance novel, or even historical fiction, it is a work of art. I would recomend this book for anyone who enjoys emotions, reading or love. LOVE is the theme of these novels; simple, wonderful, and perfect.

Summary: Spellbinding, one by one all four books draw you in.
Review: I got Outlander on loan from a friend, and found myself needing the next before she got a chance to bring it to work. I went out and purchased the set of four and have reread them and loaned them out in between. Jamie has become a part of this twenty first century nurse's life, too. I have always loved this style of book but there are few words to really express the all encompassing thrill of running through the heather and smelling the fresh clean, preindustry air with these delightful and vibrant characters. They beckon you to delve through the stones.....

Summary: It's getting better all the time!!
Review: This author has a way of dragging a reader right in and making them forget EVERYTHING. I rushed breathlessly through 'Outlander', 'Dragonfly in Amber', and 'Voyager', and the only thing that is keeping me from rushing into the bedroom and grabbing my copy of 'Drums of Autumn' is the terrible knowledge that there will be nothing left to read after that one is finished! I almost wish I had waited until Diana Gabaldon had completed the series before I started because waiting for 'Fiery Cross' will be pure torture. 'Voyager' gave so many unexpected thrills. I quickly adjusted to my disapointment of Claire and Jamie having been apart for 20 years and fell to enjoying their life together again. From Scotland, across the high seas, to the isles of the Carribean and beyond, I was lost in the adventure of it all. I had come to love Scotland so much that I thought I would hate to leave it but I had just as much fun on the high seas with this pair and their entertaining entourage. So wonderfully talented is this author that one can actually BE with Jamie and Claire as they share life and love. Please hurry and finish the rest of the series, Ms. Gabaldon! Life will be so dull until you do! Kristy

Summary: The best historical romance series I have ever read!!!
Review: When I first read Outlander, I finished it in 12 hours. The next 2 within the week...I was hooked! Jamie and Claire wove their way into my heart and imagination with such color and richness that it seems hard to believe that they're just characters in a book...I was thrilled to hear that there are new additions too the series and I'm sure that Ms. Gabladon keeps the amazing standard that she sets with the first three books. Keep it up Diana!!!

Summary: The author captures the panache love story immediately.
Review: The author carries your "peek" interest with Scotland's history. The history of the war, the detailed medical happenings and the deep love, true love found between two people of ONLY different time tables. Ms. Gabaldon made all of her books seem perfectly correct and real. The time traveling was exciting to the very end with Jamie and Clara's daughter, Brianna traveling as her mother once did. The personalities from one book to the next was unforgiving and made one shake with delight. I hope to read more of this family, maybe a continuation. BTW, I married my own "Jamie". Thank you.
