Summary: Best yet in series
Review: It's unbelievable how Gabaldon is able to pack so much action and suspense into an 870 page novel. How can she come up with it all? How can she KEEP TRACK OF IT ALL?

The readers get to see Jamie and Claire find each other again (and I don't just mean physically) as they rush to track down and rescue their nephew. Gabaldon introduces old and interesting characters from the first novel as well as bringing a few new interesting ones into the pot.

Over all, I found this novel remarkable and the best yet--and darn glad I'm finished so that I can finally have a decent night sleep!

Summary: VIVID
Review: I am reading Diana G's books in order, thanks to this board. Claire and Jamie's story is outstanding. In this issue, she returns to the 1750's when she discovers Jamie is still alive there. The changes they have both been thru for the past 20 years are realistic and heart-wrenching. Every description is vivid and you feel tremendously throughout the whole book. Claire is now a doctor which comes in very handy for everyone. The humor and love between these two is so wonderful to read. They get into so much trouble you CANNOT put the book down until you see them safely out of it! :) I cannot believe how fast I read the first 3 and now will begin the fourth. I wish I could have my paychecks sent directly to my home instead of disturbing my reading flow! Enjoy!

Summary: This series keeps getting better
Review: This third book in the historical Scottish trilogy by Diana Gabaldon was as riveting and intense as the previous two installments. I will admit to dragging myself through the first couple hundred pages, however, there were enough interesting and engaging segments in those first chapters to keep the fire of interest alive.

The beginning of the book switches back and forth between 1746 in Scotland with Jamie Fraser's post-war life and 1968 in Scotland with Claire, Brianna and Roger Wakefield undertaking the historical search for traces of Jamie Fraser and what might have become of him after the war.

Brianna, Jamie's daughter, finds the proof of Jamie's life as a printer in Edinburgh years after the battle at Culloden. Claire then makes her decision to, once again, step through the Druid stone circle at Craigh na Dun and back into the 18th century to find Jamie.

The reunion between Claire and Jamie was everything a reader could ever possibly want in a novel and more. Ms. Gabaldon anchors the love story with a strong element of believability, regardless of the time-travel aspects of the story. Claire and Jamie have little time together before being thrown into danger, mystery and mayhem. Several surprises await the reader with twists and turns that had me commenting a loud to myself! As the title would indicate, much of the book takes place on a ship as Jamie and Claire are bound for the West Indies in a daring rescue attempt. Several characters from the previous novels reappear, some in ways that are delightful surprises. Others return in devious deadly plots.

Although I have read over 3,000 pages of this story I am not yet tired of it. The characters of Claire and Jamie are still strong and continue to hold my interest. This is one of those stories that I do not want to see end for when it does, I will miss Claire and Jamie terribly. The next book, Drums of Autumn, promises to be perhaps the best of the trilogy.

I most certainly recommend this series to readers enjoying adventure, time-travel and romance. I would, however, recommend beginning with the first book in the series, Outlander, and then reading the second, Dragonfly in Amber.

Summary: voyager
Review: What a wonderful series. Doing our own Scottish genealogy these books have really hit home. It gives me a feel of what our own ancestors daily lives may have been. Once you start you won't put them down. Thank goodness I have my own Scottish lad at home, yes the Scottish traits of Jamie run through the bloodline of time.

Summary: A Voyage to Remember...
Review: An excellent book, just like the other two. So far so good. I was a bit unsure at first how good this third book would be, I wasn't disappointed at all. At times, predictable, but still a great book.

Ms. Gabaldon flawlessly continues the story as though she wrote all three at the same time!

Voyager is jam packed with intrigue, mystery and adventure. She continually stays with characters we know and love but adds others, which keeps it even more interesting.

When Claire finds out Jamie made it out of the war, you want to cheer and shout "Yeah!", even though you knew it. You can't help but smile.

You go through what Claire goes through, reacquainting herself with Jamie and learning and relearning about who he was and what he is presently.

Shock after shock of the changes of Jamie are surprising, but interesting. He's still the same old Jamie, but changed over the 22 years.

Conflict arises, finally, between the two of them. Ms. Gabaldon gives a little dose of reality and grounds us: not all relationship are perfect.

A lot of tension, confusion and hurt that almost drives Claire away and Jamie to his deathbed. You'll have to read the books in order to find out the ending. ;)

Summary: James,if only all men were like you
Review: Well, where do I begin?Since I have opened the first book in this series,I haven't been able to stop.I guess we all want to be Claire, don't we now?Usually I am not a dreamer but more of a realist but this book as the ones before make it seem as we are in it.We wish to feel everything Claire is experiencing in her travels trough time and passionate love.I do not see time go by anymore and forget to eat and do all the other things one should tend to in a day.Let me tell you that my boyfriend is really benefiting from all the heat that goes trough the love scenes. It just makes me want to LOVE.Well whatever you wish to call it. Now there is the last book in this series left for me to read, and I am already sad that it will end soon.As they say in french: 'Chapeau' Diana Gabaldon.

Summary: Addicted!
Review: Voyager by Diana Gabaldon is the third book in the Outlander series. In this, the continuation of Dragonfly In Amber; we hit the open seas and set sail for tropical locations where vodoo, mystery, slavery, kidnapping and smuggling make up the plot; and of course there's the usual Jamie and Claire stuff we can't get enough of. Very exciting reading; it reads like an Indiana Jones adventure. We also get to see some loose ends tied up and also new questions raised that only make you say-where's the next book. That's easy enough, the next one is Drums Of Autumn. Once you start reading these books you can't stop.

Summary: *WOW* The 3rd is also as good as the 1st!
Review: I ordered this book directly from Diana Gabaldon herself and she even autographed it for me! How cool is that? Anyway, I had already bought the 4th one, Drums of Autumn, but refused to read it until I had read Voyager. I know that they all stand on their own, but you know, there's nothing better than starting from scratch and learning the characters' backgrounds first. I was so ready for Voyager when it arrived that I read it in 4 days, which is probably a record for me (especially considering the size of these books!). How anybody who reads this series of books can say that they are boring is just beyond me. I wish someone would make a movie out of these. I wonder who would play Jamie and Claire?

Summary: down the chutehole
Review: I wouldn't buy it. I'm glad that I only bought the hardcover edition at barnes and nobles for 5 books. It was slow, dumb, and quit boring. The only good book in the series was Dragonfly in Amber. Here, in this book, it is slow and repetitive. Yawn.
