Summary: If you have never read these, you are missing the best lit.
Review: When I picked up the book, I thought "Great, another trashy romance." I was amazed, I stayed up all night reading Outlander, and as soon as I recieved "Dragonfly in Amber", I read it and actually cried during the... I won't spoil it... In Voyager, I cheered at the reunion and hoped for the next chapter of their life. I have fallen in love with Jamie and hope to find him somewhere other than these wonderful novels...I eagerly await the next in the series!

Summary: Cross Stitich or Outlander?
Review: I live in Australia and have read Cross Stitich as the first novel, is it Outlander? or have I missed one. After the first one I was hooked, but feel the third book is better then the second. Will there be a fifth one.

Summary: Not since Gone With the Wind . . .
Review: Diana Gabaldon is a truly gifted writer. Not since "Gone With the Wind" have characters so vividly and achingly made their place in my heart where they live forever. I recently bought all 4 in the Outlandish series in Hardcover, because I just HAD to have them available to read again and again. This is the most delicious way to learn history--through the eyes of those who lived it, and it's hard to believe that Diana wasn't there herself--I think she has standing stones in her imagination that allow her to "be" there as she writes. As others have said, once you have read these books, you will be spoiled for other books. I used to enjoy romance novels, and thought that was all I was getting when my sister-in-law lent it to me, but I haven't read another "romance" novel since--they just don't measure up, and I cannot help but make the comparison. I'll never forget the night I read THAT crucial scene in "Dragonfly In Amber" (I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but if you've read it, you know which scene I mean), and the tears were coming so hard and fast, I could barely see to read my way through. No movie has ever done that to me, nevermind any other book. These books are truly special. Enjoy!

Summary: Am I glad I still have "Drums... " to go! In theMeantime...
Review: ..for all those who enjoyed reading this and the next 2 books of the Outlander series as much as I did, there's the great problem of what to read after we finish Drums Of Autumn and the new book not being published yet. I'll try and make this a useful review by recalling books I've read that involve a SIMILAR(not SAME, these books are quite unique)quality of story or adventure. The ordinary cross-referencing system of bookstores seem to be curiously inept at the job of detecting blissful, similar books across the dividing gaps of genres. If you do the same,we'll weather the time quite well(aye?). Here goes: Have you read Lady Of Hay,plus sequel by Barbara Erskine? Look it up in Amazon.com..That's the closest fit I remember, though not my favourite. What about Judith Merkle Riley, In Pursuit Of The Green Lion - thoroughly enjoyable, if you don't mind her talking to Angels now and then.. And for a truly wonderful love story, look up Elizabeth Chadwick's The Wild Hunt, plus sequel.. Just for the sheer heck of it (or if you liked the previous suggestions), read Good Omens, by Neil Gaiman. It is quite a stunning book. Enjoy.

Summary: :) troubles after reading Outlander . . .
Review: I picked this book up in an airport a couple years ago looking for a time killer. I read it the entire vacation, the way home, at home -and read it four more times that year. I think this book is one of the best escape books I've read in ages. I fell head over heels with Claires wit, Jamies earthiness. Problems? Well, I got obsessed -watched Braveheart and fell in further -was suddenly looking for a man in a kilt and the misted crags of Scotland. I was in Ohio at the time. . . Those of you who are critiqueing Gabadalon's style -yes, you have some valid points. However it sounds as though you are people who don't lose yourself in this kind of book. Relax and don't take it too seriously (it *is* FICTION btw), find yourself a writer who suits you and don't spoil it for those of us who fell in love with this series. For some of us, it is a godsend in the area of escape literature and fantasy. I recommend this book (the rest of the series is steadily altered, so takes a bit of priming of expectations) to anyone needing a good long walk through a the gamut of emotions -this book will take you there. I think the overall message she is portraying is that life carries the unexpected - laugh at what you can, and understand the rest is a part of your travels. Read well!

Summary: Not that this book needs another rave review, but....
Review: All I can say after the reviews I just read is ditto, me too, and yesss! Having read Outlander and Dragonfly in Amber, I too know the luxury of sinking into Diana Gabalon's sassenach saga and never wanting to come up for air. I love that I have at least two more to read. Thank you, Ms. Gabalon.

Summary: One of the most beautifully written books I've ever read.
Review: The first time I ever saw Outlander, I read the back and laughed at it, convinced it was yet another corny romance novel. However, my friend recommended it to me, and I tried it. It was one of the few books that have ever made me cry, and it's so hilarious in some places. My friend and I use those jokes over and over again and never tire. One of my greatest aspirations is to become a writer, and Diana Gabaldon is definitely what Sarah McLachlan is to music: essential, beautifully written, and fun.

Summary: Fun read !!!!
Review: This is my favorite curl up on the couch with a cup of tea read. It is fun without being overly sappy. I definetly recommend this book, along with the 3 others.

Summary: I'm in LOVE!
Review: I was introduced to these books by a friend and am now forever grateful. I am 18 years old and, upon getting into "Outlander" I immediately fell in love, not only with Jamie and Claire, but with the entire overall feel (that's not the right word...) of the story. Ever since then I have done extensive research of my own into Scotish history and done several school projects on the Risings. (Both the '15 and the'45) I find myself being taken back through time and living every moment in the story as it was happening to me. Any author who is able to do this to my emotions is truly amazing. Right now I am on "Drums of Autumn". I waited so long for this to come out in paperback! I love it. However, despite Claire's feelings toward Jamie's possible return to Scotland, I really hope the story leads back to the rocky highlands. I will say no more though, I won't ruin it for any of the readers out there. Recommend this to your friends, read it youself...you will truly be amazed!

Summary: I was swept away from my life and into Claires
Review: Ms. Gabaldon knows how to sweep you right out of the 20th century and gently drop you into Scotland in the 1700's, to share in Claire and Jamie's adventure. At the end, I found myself wishing to visit the standing stone myself at Craigh na Dun. She left me wanting more, and impatiently waiting for Dragonfly in Amber. I found Ms. Gabaldon book well written. It is a keeper on my shelf! Cathy Key
