Summary: Couldn't put it down!!!!
Review: Wow what a book!! From the moment Claire touched that stone in Scotland to Claire and Jamie standing together pondering their future I could not put it down. Like so many other readers I stayed up all hours to finish it, which only took 5 days. Besides being a great romance it is also a great historical novel. You can tell that Diana Gabaldon did her research. Her descriptions of the people of Scotland at that time are wonderful. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance, just be careful you lose alot of sleep finding out what happens to these great characters.

Summary: ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL....!!!!!!!!!!
Review: I had been reading other time travel books, and was looking for others, when I came across Diana Gabaldon... I tried "Outlander" and I was hooked... It was the best... I just finished "Dragon fly in Amber" the other day, I couldn't put it down... I just had to read the other two.. So I bought the whole set... I am reading "Voyager" now, and the story just keeps getting better and better.. I can't wait for the stories to continue.. Three cheers for Diana Gabaldon... She is a wonderful writer... It's worth staying up till 3a.m. to learn what will happen to Claire and Jamie....

Summary: An absolute MUST READ!!!
Review: This is by far, my favorite series ever! As I read Outlander, I totaly fell in love with Jamie Frazier. What a guy!! He's tall, muscular, handsome, rugged, and that red hair! Claire is a great herione in that she is always in control of her destiny. She challenges Jamie at every turn. We should all have a romance like theirs! These books have it all: time travel, romance, murder, witchcraft, war, famine, etc, ect. Way to go Diana! I'm eagerly waiting for number 5!!

Summary: One of the most romantic, magical books I ever read!
Review: I received this book as a gift from a co-worker. I found it a little bit hard to get into at first and I almost gave up reading it. But then I was sucked into the storyline! Diana Gabaldon is a wonderful storyteller and brings her characters to life through her attention to historical detail and writing style. I was left wanting more and sad that the story was over....fortunately, there are three more in the series!

Summary: boooring silly romance, not for me, thanks !
Review: I found this book incredibly boring. I had to fight to get halfway through it, luckily the ending got a little more interesting. I can't believe my eyes if there are people saying this is the best book they have ever read. Just know that this a a simple romance book (Claire can't keep her hands of Jamie and vice versa, they make love, they fight)with a little adventure (for sure not enough). I don't understand why she needs 850 pages to tell her story. Why didn't we hear from Frank, how does he feel? I wouldn't even recommend it for light summer reading and for the same reason, I will not read any of the sequels. THIS IS ONLY FOR ROMANCE READERS.

Summary: A "can't put it down" book
Review: This was one of the best books I have ever read I couldn't even put it down. The love/hate scenes between her and Jamie could never be brought to the big screen with as much realism and emotion as they had in the book. You can not help but fall in love with both the characters. It is a must for anyone who loves time travel. Way to go Dinane you have an awsome way of capturing your characters spirit. I have read Dragon fly in Amber and The Voyager and am getting ready to start the 4th I hope it is as captivating as your others.

Summary: I'm going to go crazy!
Review: I loved this book. I have an extremely busy schedual, and I read this book in like 5 days. I was up the last night I finished it until 3:30. I was a tad tired in school the next day. But that doesn't matter. Because I have been waiting forever for the person who checked the next one out of our library turn it back in and if I don't get it soon I'm going to go crazy!

Summary: Highly entertaining but a bit much for the cynical
Review: I just finished _Outlander_, and I have to admit to somewhat mixed feelings. On one hand, I thoroughly enjoyed learning about Scottish culture and traditions through the eyes of a more modern character and I found the intrigue and adventure Claire encountered fascinating. On the other hand, several things irritated me... domestic violence just plain doesn't sit well with me, no matter how much it's justified in the context of the time. And maybe I'm just too cynical, but some of the dialogue during the sex scenes just flat made me roll my eyes. And finally, I was disappointed in the very offensive stereotype so often found in historical fiction - the evil homosexual. Don't get me wrong - I *really* enjoyed the book, but I just can't say I was 100% pleased with everything in it. While some of the gooey romantic stuff annoyed me, I did enjoy the banter between Jamie and Claire, as well as the whole unfolding of them getting to know each other.

If you look at this book purely as a romance novel, it's much better than most. If you look at it purely as literature, there are many aspects that, depending on your point of view, can be a bit cheesy. Still, I was utterly swept up in the story and couldn't put the book down, so overall I would recommend it.

Summary: Outstanding Book!
Review: A friend lent me this book thought I might enjoy it. That's putting it mildly. This is an extremely well written book. It kept my attention, and desire to read more, right at the tip of my mind. I look forward to reading more of her works.
