Summary: Diane did it again
Review: Usually, I am the avoid the romance book section woman; thinking many books there are less prolific than my tastes - however I held my head up as I searched for Outlander! Diane's treatment of the historical aspects and the ties that bind it together from continents to timezones held me captive once again! My dear husband even encouraged and drove me to get the hardback version of the book - as I have enertained him with read aloud excerpts from the first few books. I am again a selective reader with precious time for two children and their books, husbands computer manuals and my dry college textbooks; as a rule, I avoid trilogies or book sets - choosing to think the first book is usually the most delcious and having diminished appetites for consecutive efforts. However, this is not the case in Diane's gift to us with her ability to weave stories around history and capture us into Clare's lifelong love story as it unfolds. How long must we wait for the next episode to this fantastic journey? Time does not matter where quality is concerned - patience and persistence will grant us a passport to continue the lifelong quest for intrigue and the deep commitment Diane grants us in her storytelling.

Summary: Outlander
Review: I'm in love with the characters in this book. I can't get enough! Jamie and Claire are so real. This is by far one of the best books that I have ever read. Needless to say, I've also read the three that followed it. Everyone that I have shared these books with have agreed that there are no others that can compare. I can't wait for the 5th one!

Summary: This book touched me!
Review: I read "Outlander" two years ago, and I still can't get it out of my head. It was so intense, that I could not put it down. The main characters, Jamie and Claire were so real to me. Their love and the trials that they faced kept me awake at night. Diana Gabaldon is a wonderful writer. This book goes way beyond the realm of romance. It was historical, educational, thought provoking and beautiful. I have to admit that I did not care for the other books in the series, but I consider "Outlander" to be one of the best books that I have ever read.

Summary: NOT ONE OF THE GREAT BOOKS OF ALL TIME, BUT ENTERTAINING
Review: As a romance novel, this one is better than average. The characters are quite well drawn and the story moves along. Even though it is 600 pages, you will not be bored. Lots of sex and violence, what more could you ask for in a novel of this type. I would keep it in my library and at some point might read it again. Very entertaining and makes you look forward to the next edition. This has got to be a series.

Summary: A fantastic adventure...
Review: I can't really say anything new about this book, because it has already been said by the countless reviewers before me. I am just in awe. What a wonderful journey I was on! Diana Gabaldon has spun quite a yarn, leaving me to make my own "Scottish noises." Luckily, I have the next book in the series to ease my withdrawl!

Summary: A True Literary Classic
Review: I first found Diana Gabaldon's books 4 years ago when I stumbled across Dragonfly in Amber and picked it up because it had a pretty cover. I started to read it and was completely confused, but curious enough to check the cover more carefully and find out that it was a sequel! After putting that one on hold for a bit, I tried again with Outlander and was completely immersed into the world of Scotland, 1743. This is by far the best book I have ever read. I have always loved historical novels and romance novels, and this was the best of both worlds. Everything that I thought was lacking in the novels I had read before, this one had. The writing is graphic and ugly at times, but it is honest and that's what books are supposed to be like. Claire is the best heroine I have ever read. She's strong and realistic and even though we don't know what she looks like, we know her so well. Jamie is the most memorable hero I have ever read. He's unlike any other man I have ever seen in print. After 4 years and countless hours of reading, I still can't put this book down once I start reading it again! Diana Gabaldon is a fabulous writer, and this book and the ones that follow it are wonderful gifts to the world of literature.

Review: Being of Scottish decent this book was a wonderful journey through the hills of Scotland. The author evidently researched the area and history of the dates involved in the book. A wonderful "time traveler" experience!

Summary: The Most Memorable Series I Have Ever Read
Review: I just finished reading all the online reviews of this book and really enjoyed everyone's opinions. It was like participating in a gigantic book discussion. I am an avid reader, and long time member of a book discussion group. I have read thousands of books in my life but I can honestly say this one is in my top five favorites. The only other characters as memorable to me are Catherine and Heathcliff. DG is such a gifted writer. I too consumed all of her books in record time to the dismay of my husband and children (although my husband appreciated it in the long run). They are so addictive. I just bought the companion book and cannot wait to read it also (although it will make me read them all over again). I too, have been to Scotland several times in my life and can attest to DG's skill in describing that beautiful country. I can't wait for the next book, but being a mother, I also don't want to pressure DG to neglect her family too much just to rush out the next one to appease her many fans. However long we have to wait, it will be worth the wait I am sure!
