Summary: This book has it all!
Review: "Outlander" is one of the most compelling, absorbing books I have ever read. I just couldn't put it down! Claire and Jamie are so well drawn, so REAL, that it is sometimes hard to remember "Outlander" is a work of fiction. If you like a strong story, fascinating characters and a romantic setting - you will love Outlander.

Summary: The Ultimate Gabaldon Test
Review: I don't normally like books written in the first person. I *loved* "Outlander" (known as "Cross Stitch" in New Zealand). I read "Outlander" on the recommendation of a good friend and immediately fell in love with Jamie (as any living, breathing woman would).

The book is rich in history, romance, drama... It has the qualities of a true epic, easily rivalling such classics as "Gone With the Wind".

Claire Randall is the reader's guide into the story and throughout it's sequels. It's through her eyes that we are introduced to the way of life and harsh truths in those times. If you've never been to Scotland, you will be dying to go "Jamie Hunting" by the end of this book.

For new Gabaldon readers, Outlander is the one to start with. Do not even attempt to read any of the sequels first. Even though it is not crucial to read them in order, you will get the most enjoyment by doing so. The second and third books in the series are not nearly as good. It is only the enjoyment of reading about familiar characters that kept me going. Nevertheless, by the time you have read all four books, you will be hungering for more.

"Outlander" is the ultimate Gabaldon test. You will either hate it or love it. If you hate it, you won't read anything by Gabaldon ever again. If you love it, you won't be able to eat, drink or sleep until you have read the others.

I am happy to say that I definitely belong in the latter category.

Summary: The most wonderful and endearing novel ever written.
Review: This is the most wonderful book I have read. No book have I read since (except the others in the series) has come close to comparing to this novel. The love of Jamie and Claire will last an eternity. This is a nonstop read taking one trough all of their trials and tribulations. You can never give up on the wonderful storyline and the beautiful writing of Diana Gabaldon.

Summary: One of a kind!
Review: I usually like to read romances but I was getting tired of the cookie cutter plot lines. I think some authors think you need to be brainless to enjoy a good romance. How refreshing it was to find a book that challenged my intelligence, that brought out every emotion possible and that was totally entertaining; not to mention romantic. I just have to add that Jamie's accent was adorable and his character a rare breed. I loved this book. I had my sisters read it also. One loved it; the other hated it (why, I don't understand). I now love fiction and am on a quest for something even close to the quality of Outlander; haven't found it yet. I'll just have to wait for Diana Gabaldon to come out with a new book. Even without the romance she's a great storyteller.

Review: With out a doubt one of my most favorite books! The series is excellent, alot of historical content and a good storyline. Have never been a big fan of time travel books but Outlander was so good I had to have the whole series. One you read it you will never forget Jamie and Claire

Summary: EXCELLENT!
Review: BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN WITH STRONG, EXCITING CHARACTERS. I'VE READ IT AND IT'S SEQUELS SEVERAL TIMES AND DRAW SOMETHING NEW FROM IT EVERYTIME. DIANA GABALDON BY FAR EXCEEDS OTHERS IN HER FIELD. I LOOK FORWARD TO ALL HER FUTURE PROJECTS.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Can read it over and over
Review: Diana is one of my favorite authors. I usually don't read this type of fiction and happened on it quite accidentally, now I have read the whole series and wait with baited breath for more. This is the starting place and what a great adventure it is.

Summary: An interesting read. Not the best, not the worst
Review: With 430+ reviews, I thought this would have been the book of books. The first chapter was tedious. Love story was nice between Claire and Jamie and Scotland was depicted very accurately for the time period. Claire's demon exorcism at the end was seemed unlikely since she practiced medicine. I'm not sure I'll attempt the others in this series.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: anytime read
Review: I loved this book and all of the other books in this series! I have read them each at least 5 or 6 times. These books are very well written and wonderfuly researched and the depth of character is such that if they cry I cry! Ms. Gabaldon, thank you for giving me so much joy with these characters!
