Summary: Time-travel, Romance and History...what more could you want!
Review: I am a fan of time travel novels. I picked up "Outlander" at a flea market recently. When I got into the book I was riveted and fell in love with Claire and Jaime. Claire's travel back to 18th century Scotland opens the reader up to a world of history that is fascinating and intriguing. The love between Claire and Jaime Fraser is breathtaking and I found myself hoping she never returns to post-war Scotland. I found that I didn't like Claire's present day husband all that much, especially after meeting Captain Randall in 18th century Scotland, an ancestor of her husband's. Ms. Gabaldon's characters have such strength of character and courage, enduring the hardships of Scotland in the 18th century, it made me wonder what I ever have to complain about! I was sorry to see this epic end. The good news was when I went to amazon.com I found that this was the first of 4 books in the saga! I order the other 3 books from amazon and I am now reading the second of the series, "Dragonfly in Amber". Outlander is a fabulous book about the extraordinary courage of a woman and a romantic love that spans the centuries. A must read for all lovers of historical, romance and time travel novels!

Summary: My All Time Favorite!
Review: There is no book that comes to mind as a favorite I have read than the Outlander and its three continuances, Dragonfly in Amber, The Voyager, and The Drums of Autumn. Diana Gabaldon weaves such a story so rich in details of Historical Scotland that you are literally there with Claire Randall and Jamie Fraser. I feel like I have spent part of my life with them after reading these books written by a woman who can tell a tale like no other. A fantastic read from beginning to end, and you will wish it would never end....Diana Gabaldon truly brings these characters to life. I found myself laughing outloud in some points in these books and crying sadly for Claire and Jamie in others. I have read and re read the Outlander to the point that the pages are falling out of the book. The Outlander is one to add to your library collection of books!

Summary: Get the 640 page, trade paperback edition!
Review: OUTLANDER is a book that truly transcends the romance genre. Told from a first-person point of view, OUTLANDER follows the time-travel adventure of Claire Randall. This is definitely a love-it-or-hate-it book, and I absolutely loved it. I'd give it ten stars if that was an option!

Since there are nearly 600 reviews posted about this book's content, I'll forgo further editorial comment and add something that hasn't been mentioned--spend the extra buck or two and get the trade paperback edition (at 640 pages) instead of the mass market paperback. It's MUCH easier to handle, and you won't have problems with the spine splitting or pages separating. Unless you're a REALLY fast reader, this book will be lying around your house for several days while you read, and the mass market paperback edition just doesn't hold up to much abuse.

Summary: Love this kind of story!
Review: Diana's books are always such a joy to read, and this one is a great read. I have read all of her books and recommend them highly. I have also recently been hooked on H. Van Horne's time travelers series too, so I hope this means that there will be more time travel romances out there from all of these writers soon. Great job, Diana!

Summary: Breath -taking Novel
Review: This is a book filled with many different adventures that keep you reading for more. Some scenes actually leave your eyes glued to the page hungry for more. This book at a unique plot; one that i had never read about. Those looking for something different and exciting look no further. Diana Galbaldon is a spectacular writer. Her characters become your friends and once the book is over you feel a empty space inside. Since this book was long i was accustomed to reading it every night and when it was over i felt sad. That is how you know it was a good book.

Summary: The best!
Review: This OUTLANDER series is the best pleasure reading I have found - ever! However, I am so enamoured of them that I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate at least the first book into my college sophomore English class! I know I shall read these books again and again and never tire of them.

Summary: Outlander
Review: I purchased the Outlander set of books to read when I was going to be off work after surgery. I could NOT get into this book. I usually look at the reviews to see what other people think and usually a good indication of how good the book is. Unfortunately this was not the case. I love to read time travel romances but could not get through this one. Now I have the rest of the series sitting on a shelf.

Summary: Sensual and exciting!
Review: Outlander is very well written with lots of action to keep you interested. The characters are interesting and smart. No shrinking violets or silly stubborn women here. She is level headed and smart, a lovely change of pace! Ms. Gabaldon's sensual characters that make you wish you were there with them. I hope that people who have not yet read a time-travel book will try this one. This was my frist, and I want to read more.

Summary: Oulander OUTSTANDING!!!
Review: Here I am actually going to admit I read a romance novel. I am not one to read romance fiction and somewhat scoff at those who do.

After reading Outlander, I no longer look with disbelief at why others read them. I leaf through the romance section without as much reservations. Quite and admittance.

The tale of a redheaded gallant Scottish warrior and a 1945s-era woman falling in love despite the events and environment of the time. I am often reminded of A.E. Housman's poem: "..the color of his hair..."

Their love is timeless and forever; it was meant to be. Very romantic but with mystery and lots of adventure.

It's historically accurate Gaelic language and history is fascinating as well as functional. You learn while you enjoy the story at the same time.

This is a MUST READ. Read this book and you will NOT be disappointed, I guarantee it.

Summary: THE MOST AMAZING BOOK I'VE READ!!!
Review: From the moment I picked this book up I couldn't put it down! It was touching, adventurous and all out amazing! I love to read and before reading Outlander, I never thought I would like romance novels. Dianna Gabaldon makes this more than just romance novel. She takes the reader into the book and makes them feel as if they are in the book sharing each adventure with Claire and Jamie. If you can get past the first 30 or so pages (which are setting the scene and getting you aquainted with Claire) then it'll probably become one of your favorites. Enjoy!
