Summary: Hooked From Page One
Review: I work in a library and am surrounded by books coming and going each day. One of the librarians casually mentioned to me that I might enjoy a book called 'Outlander'. I checked it out and was hooked from page one. Now, I am not one for romance novels and never really cared for them but this book goes beyond the romance factor. It is wonderfully written and worth reading. I intend on reading the other 4 novels this author has produced since 'Outlander'. If you like adventure, intrigue and yes, romance too then this is the number one book of its kind.

Summary: A Fantastic "Fantasy"
Review: I loved this book and the rest of the books in the series. I just got The Fiery Cross and can't wait to read it. I read the reviews, the bad ones only, as I agree with the positive ones. I love time travel and love stories from the past that take place in England/Scotland. This book covers all that and more. No it isn't history. I was not aware time travel happens. There are parts of the book that are violent. The book takes place in a time and period that wasn't exactly peaceful. I am a victim of spouse abuse and was quite aware that this was a story of fantasy. Besides, any part I didn't like I skipped. Most "romance" books have more sex than I need to read about. I read to escape reality. I found this to be very entertaining. I was happy to see so many reviews in favor of the story, as I loved it. Of the people I have recommended it to, only 1 did not like it. Like most things, it isn't for everyone.

This book was compared to "Knight in Shining Armor" on more than one occasion. I loved that book; it is what got me reading historical romance novels. But I only read it once. I have read this series and many others more than once.

My advice is to note that many like it and to form your own opinion. Don't buy all of them if long books, first person writing, violent content, put you off and you prefer an easy read. I usually recommend reading at least 1/2 the book to give it a chance. Again it isn't for everyone, but it is for most, the greatest book and love story written.

Good luck and hope you enjoy it as much as I did and as did so many other readers

Summary: Un-put-downable!
Review: I read this book under it's Australian title "cross-stitch", and I loved it. Claire's journey into Jacobite Scotland is believable, as is her developing romance with Jamie. Being a stickler for historical accuracy, I was pleased that there were no glaringly obvious errors, yet it could in now way be called a boring historical recount. One to snuggle up with!

Summary: Diana Gabaldon is an amazing storyteller!
Review: Diana Gabaldon is my hero! Once you pick up Outlander, you'd better prepare to not be reading anything else until you've finished all 5 books. At the end of each book I had to immediately begin the next one as I couldn't wait to see what was awaiting Jamie & Claire! These 2 characters have become so real to me I can hear them in my head while driving to work... Diana Gabaldon writes so smoothly and richly that you end up deeply immersed in these novels without any notion of what is going on around you-you almost feel you are right there! And James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser is the sexiest, sweetest hero ever!

Summary: Excellent reading and a Wonderfully fulfilling love story!
Review: This is the absolute best book I have ever read! It is wonderfully written, and sweeps you away to 18th century Scotland. This book is impossible to put down! If you like this one, and I promise you will fall in love right with Claire and Jaimie, you will love the rest in the series!

Summary: What a fabulous read!
Review: This book is one of the most detailed fictional time-travel books I've ever read. I just couldn't put it down! At first I was a little hesitant starting the series. (The two-husband thing seemed a put-off) But after reading the glowing reviews on Amazon, I just had to buy the series. These books are now my all-time favorites. And now with the Firey Cross coming out, (the 5th book in the sereis) I get to continue this great time-travel journey with two of the most passionate, complex characters ever written. This is the first time I've ever considered writing a review about a book (or in this case, books). You won't be disappointed!

Summary: I LOVE Jamie Fraser!
Review: Not only does Gabaldon create a tremendous historic novel, but she also creates one of the best love stories I've ever read. Gabaldon's story brings us to Scotland and a mysterious ring of stones with even more mysterious powers. We find out a great deal about these amazing places throughout the book everything from faeries to clans brings the lore and people of historic Scotland to light. However, this is not even the best part of this amazing novel. Jamie Fraser is one of the best heros I've come to know in years. His strength, love for Claire, and soulfulness make him impossible to resist. Of course, I know he's only a figment of someone's imagination, but I LOVE Jamie Fraser.

Summary: You've got to read this book!
Review: If you love romance, then stop right here! The story of Jamie and Claire is the love story of love stories. I've read the whole series and can't wait for the new book, The Fiery Cross, to be released in November. I got my sister and all my friends so hooked on Jamie and Claire that we now have trouble getting interested in other books! Nothing else compares. This is truly the best book I've ever read, along with the rest of the series: Drums of Autumn, Voyager and Dragonfly in Amber. You've got to read these books - they are outstanding!

Summary: Wonderful! Everyone should read this!
Review: Right now I'm cursing my mom for giving me these books. As soon as I finished the first, I had to read the second (Dragonfly in Amber) and now that I'm done with the second, I have to read the third (Voyager). I'm a grad student, so it's not like I don't have plenty of other reading I should be doing. (I even promised myself that after I finished Dragonfly in Amber I'd read a school book before I started the next one. Well, now I don't think I can wait to find out what happens.) These books are absolutely fantastic -- romantic, exciting and touching, but please don't start them until you have time to finish all of them!
