Summary: Outlander
Review: This book should come with a warning label- ADDICTIVE!
You absolutely cannot put it down. Gabaldon is a genius for weaving a wonderful love story, history, adventure and suspense.
I cannot wait to get on to the next one.

Summary: Not usually my style, but well worth the exploration
Review: I'm not usually one to read anything in the Romance section of the bookstore, but I was stranded in an airport this past weekend needing something to read on the plane. I've an interest in Scottish history and figured the book would at least be entertaining to read on the plane. I was completely unprepared for how much it would draw me in. It's been a long time since I finished an 800 page book in three days and ran out to the store to buy the next two, hoping they'd last the week!

Gabaldon is an engaging story teller with a penchant for wry humor and an unflinching practicality that allows her characters to come across as Real(tm). Her humanity keeps her characters from becoming stock figures, and her willingness to explore human interaction, including fears, faults, sorrow, anger, regret, heart-wrenching struggle, love, honor and oh-so-much-more is not only unexpected but surprisingly true.

Summary: Surprised
Review: I am constantly giving and trading books. I had Outlander in my closet for at least a year. Not sure why, but I had always put it aside, as I found a book I thought more appealing to read. I read most of the books in my closet, but a few. Finally, I pulled out this novel, Outlander. I guess I prejudged it at first. Boy was I wrong. This novel happened to be the best of all I had in my library. I was so surprised! Read it, fell in love with the charactors, humor, and passion. I am a newbee but a fan. I read the rest of her series. I just ordered Outlandish Companion. I can't wait for the next novel.

Summary: I am ADDICTED to Diana Gabaldon!
Review: I HATE romance novels. That being said, the series of books about Jamie and Claire Fraser are the BEST books that I have ever read! Outlander is my favorite.....I have read it at least a dozen times. These books are a mixture of history, romance, mystery, and even science fiction. The books are told in such incredible detail that you don't want to miss a thing. You will grow to love the characters. The emotions and romantic scenes are realistic, without being trashy and degrading. I recommend this for women and men alike.

Summary: Great Book!
Review: Initially, I saw a review on "Dragonfly in Amber" and was intrigued by the plot, so I decided to start the series in the beginning. What a fascinating and captivating book "Outlander" turned out to be. Claire and Jamie are both incredibly strong and strong willed characters and their love story is beautiful.

Summary: not what i thought
Review: When I started this I was prepared for a time travel..the kind I have been used to where the characters go back and forth in time. Unfortunately, to me, this was just another historical romance that did not really have much time travel...in fact none other than the beginning. I got to the last 100 pages, and was bored...never finished it...

Summary: ... And I'm not even DONE with the book yet!
Review: I do not read these kinds of "chick" books. At least I didn't. I can't believe that I can't put this book down! I laugh out loud at this book, and get mad at it, and fall in love with it... (and need I mention Jamie?)

My mom gave me this book to read, too. And I wish I could have seen the look on her face when she read some of the steamier parts!! hahahahahaha

Summary: READ THIS BOOK!!!
Review: Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series is amazing. A friend recommended this book to me and I was skeptical--I mean time travel?? This would not be my favorite genre in the least, but the historical basis of the story drew me in. I'm so glad it did. Ms. Gabaldon made 18th century Scottish history come alive for me. Her historical research was excellent and her ability to create fictional characters to meld with historical figures of the time was outstanding. My family and I lived in Northern England for three years--making several trips to Scotland. Scotland is an amazing place, but Ms. Gabaldon's story and the historical accuracy she maintained during the telling of her story made it that much more awe-inspiring. The romance, intrigue and humor in the story are wonderfully done, as well. If you continue reading the series (why would you not!??)you will continue to be impressed with the writing/imagination/research of the books. If you ever make it to Scotland and hear the history of the country from tour guides and see the land described in the books, you'll find it hard to believe that Ms. Gabaldon didn't live in 18th century Scotland.

Summary: Breathtaking!
Review: I won't go into what this story is about...by now we all know the plot. What I will say is that it is a powerful and breathtaking look at men, women, family, loyalty, honor, marriage and love. Claire and Jamie's loyalty to each other is not only essential to their very survival, but to the lives of their souls as well. By the end Jamie is more human than he will ever be,and you will be out of breath!!
