Summary: Comprehensive but readable
Review: Curiously, Paludan's book is the only one written on the popular Ming Tombs. Fortuanately she did a great job--tourists and historians will find this book invaluable. It gives a short, readable account of each tomb and background material important to understand them. The illustrations work well to support the text. You should try to find it at a university library before visiting Beijing.
